Gotham City Designed to Feature 400 Years of History, Say Developers

As the launch date comes closer, we are finally getting glimpses of the much-awaited Gotham Knights. So far, we know a little about the gameplay, some bonus features, the heroes, and the villains. The only significant aspect we still don’t know about is the majestic Gotham City itself. Well, we might be in luck.   

Warner Bros. Montreal’s Gotham Knights will feature 400 years of Gotham City history.  

The developers of Gotham Knights recently talked about how the city was constructed from the ground up and its vast history spanning over a couple of hundred years.  

The creative decision will give a significant presence to the game’s main antagonists, the Court of Owls.  

One of the things that we love about The Court of Owls, aside from the fact that it’s a new, fresh addition to the Batman canon, is that they represent a threat that is so embedded, so intrinsic to Gotham City that even Batman doesn’t even know about it. The notion of a threat that is so intimately tied to a city that he considers to be his city, that he knows like the back of his end, that he’s been patrolling for literally decades at this point…

Gotham City is more massive compared to older Arkhamverse games. There are a few leading families that inhabit the five boroughs of the city. Each borough will be different from the other in terms of design, such as the Cobblepot or The Penguin’s area, Cauldron, which will be cramped and backward. 

Gotham Knights releases on October 25, 2022, for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.

Gotham Knights is an upcoming action RPG being developed by WB Games Montreal and published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. The game borrows gameplay elements and styles from the Arkham trilogy but is not considered to be in the same timeline.
