2. Episode 29 Speculations and Predictions

Titled ‘The Border,’ the next episode of Golden Kamuy will be about Sugimoto and the 7th Division traveling to Alexandrovskaya Prison. Due the hint of Kiroranke and Asirpa being there from the ringmaster of the circus.

The stumbling block of their journey would be crossing borders to Russia and their schemes to go about it.

3. Episode 28 Recap

Sugimoto’s group arrives in Toyohara, where a young boy steals the bag containing a copy of Gensoku’s tattoo. Koito chases him to Yamida Circus and surprised by his acrobatic skills, Koito is offered to join the circus.

Sugimoto sees this as a chance and the group joins the circus hoping the publicity will let Asirpa know that Sugimoto is alive.

Koito is the only one with real talent as an acrobat, so Sugimoto volunteers to perform “harakiri,” while Tsukishima and Tanigaki are relegated to join the “dancing girls” act.

On the day of the performance, Koito dazzles the audience. However, Koito replaces the circus sword with a real one and instead of drawing fake blood, Sugimoto actually cuts himself.

His act of pain is interrupted by three Russians who came to kill Yamada. It is revealed that Yamada is actually an Imperial spy.

Fortunately, an article comes in the newspaper, but the amazing harakiri act is misspelled as “Immoral Sugimoto.” They ask Yamada about the partisans heading north, and he mentions Alexandrovskaya Prison.

Golden Kamuy is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Satoru Noda, and 22 volumes have been released.

The manga has been adapted into two anime seasons with a third on the run.

The story follows Saichi Sugimoto, a veteran of the early twentieth century Russo-Japanese War, and his quest to find a huge fortune of gold left by the Ainu people, helped by a young Ainu girl named Asirpa.
