On December 25, the official website of the anime film adaptation of Nao Iwamoto’s romance fantasy manga Gold Kingdom and Water Kingdom released a new clip for the film.
The clip features the first meeting between Sara and Naranbayar. Minami Hamabe and Kento Kaku voice the two characters, respectively.
The film is set to premiere on January 27, 2023 in Japan. The film was previously screened at The Animation Film Festival on October 21 in Hollywood, Los Angeles.
The film stars Hiroshi Kamiya as Saladin, Miyuki Sawashiro as Lailala, Subaru Kimura as Jauhara, Keiko Toda as Leopoldine, Chafurin as Piripappa, Masaki Terasoma as Oduni, and Banjou Gingaas Rastavan III.
Kotono Watanabe directed the film at Madhouse. Fumi Tsubota penned the script, and Mitsuyuki Masuhara is the animation supervisor. Evan Call composed the music. NTV is credited for production coordination with Warner Bros. Japan distributing the film.
The film’s opening theme song “Brand New World” is performed by Kotone, who also performs the other songs in the film, “Yasashii Yokan” and “Love Birds.”
The original manga was first launched Shogakukan’s Monthly flower from 2014 to 2016. Shogukan published the manga’s volume book in 2016.
The manga is set in a world where two rival kingdoms have been in poor relations for a long while. The story revolves around Sara and Naranbayar, a princess and young man from either country who meet by chance and find that they must act as a couple to maintain peace in their realms. Over time, they find that they slowly fall for each other.
