The showdown between the King of Curses and the Strongest Jujutsu sorcerer is inevitable! However, we’ve yet to see either of them genuinely go all out.
All we can do is bide our time till Gege Akutami sees fit to have the two legends face-off.
Although Gege themself has said that Gojo is the strongest character in the manga in the past, Sukuna’s power has constantly been growing. The former human turned cursed spirit was unbeatable during the Heian Era.
He will undoubtedly come back stronger than ever with all the cursed energy absorbed by his fingers over millennia and his arcane knowledge about jujutsu techniques in his arsenal.
Gojo currently seems like the only one capable of standing a chance against Sukuna– and if he can’t defeat Sukuna, I’m not sure who can.
The fight would most probably come down to circumstances and how many tricks they each have hidden up their sleeve.
Since we’ve yet to see the full extent of either of their abilities, the verdict on how the fight would pan out is at best an assumption based on estimates and the little information currently available from the manga.
Regardless, here’s how I think Gojo would fare against Sukuna under different circumstances and at different levels of power:
1. Rounds
Round 1: Present Gojo vs. Sukuna as seen during the Shibuya Arc, i.e. at 15 fingers or 75% of his full power.
As of the Shibuya, Arc Sukuna has shown extreme durability against Mahoraga and strength and speed against Jogo.
Gojo, too, has shown fine control with his domain expansion, activating it for only 0.2 seconds. Even when fighting outnumbered in restricted, tight quarters, he was able to obliterate Hanami without a second thought instantly.
Round 2: Gojo vs. Sukuna at estimated full power.
Even at 15 fingers, Sukuna is a force of nature. He seems to reveal more techniques and abilities as he obtains more fingers. His strength, speed and reflexes also seem to improve.
We can assume that Sukuna, at full power, will be several times stronger than he was during the Golden Age since his fingers— which are special grade cursed objects— have been absorbing cursed energy for the last 1000 years.
2. Rules
- Sukuna has complete control over Yuji’s body.
- Neither player is assisted by anyone else. There is no outside interference.
- The winner is whoever wins the most rounds.
- A player wins a round if:
- His attack maims the other beyond regeneration.
- The opponent is trapped in a situation where he has no more moves/attacks left.
3. Character Profiles
I. Satoru Gojo
Satoru Gojo is a special grade jujutsu sorcerer– the strongest one in the series. Gojo is the only sorcerer to inherit both the Six Eyes and the Limitless Cursed Technique in the last four hundred years, responsible for his supposed invincibility.

II. Ryomen-Sukuna
Sukuna is a cursed spirit who inhabits the body of Itadori Yuji. Sukuna is well over 1000 years old and has a vast amount of knowledge of jujutsu techniques.
He was strong enough to stand out during the Golden Age of Jujutsu when several sorcerers failed to defeat him. Even his remains are indestructible and are classified as special-grade cursed objects.

4. Round 1
This fight would surely come down to perseverance! Even at 75% of his full power, Sukuna is an absolute beast! He could withstand an attack from Mahoraga like it was nothing and wrecked a good chunk of the city while battling Jogo.
Gojo may be excellent at hand to hand combat, but I feel Sukuna, even at 15%, narrowly outclasses him at physical combat. However, I suppose landing a hit on Gojo would be impossible due to Infinity.
During the fight against Jogo, Sukuna also dodged Jogo’s Maximum Meteor attack with ease. Sukuna could dodge both Red and Hollow Purple. Even if either grazed him, Sukuna’s regenerative abilities are some of the best in the series.
Sukuna can dodge Gojo’s attacks and regenerate while Gojo has an infinite supply of Cursed Energy due to Limitless making this fight an endless cat and mouse chase!
What this fight would come down to is their domain expansion techniques. Sukuna’s domain technique is divine– there’s nothing else like it. The only counter to his domain expansion is a Simple Domain.
Unless Gojo can cast Infinite Void over Sukuna’s Malevolent Shrine— which was large enough to take out a vast expanse of the landscape in the Shibuya Arc —there’s little he can do.
Infinity also doesn’t work inside Domains, leaving Gojo vulnerable to Sukuna’s slashing cursed technique.
Sukuna and Gojo are pretty evenly matched. Sukuna could defeat Gojo at 75% of his full strength, albeit with difficulty.
5. Round 2
Each finger makes a considerable difference in strength. The last five fingers would surely boost Sukuna’s strength further. Sukuna’s strength, the techniques he can access and their quality also increase with how many fingers he obtains.
Sukuna was unbeatable during the Golden Age. This was when jujutsu was at its peak, and special grade sorcerers were commonplace. It isn’t a far stretch to assume he’s met the previous Six Eyes and has a trick up his sleeve to counter Gojo.
Sukuna could also reincarnate several times stronger than he was during the Heian Era. If he were to reincarnate and bypass the restrictions of Yuji’s human body, he would be unstoppable. Even Gojo’s cursed technique wasn’t able to destroy one of Sukuna’s fingers.
Unless Gojo has some trump card up his sleeve, it seems unlikely that he can defeat Sukuna at full strength.
6. Champion
Surprisingly, Sukuna is way stronger than he explicitly lets on! Sukuna is definitely stronger than Gojo at full strength.
Although it seems Gojo is stronger than Sukuna on the surface, in reality, they’re almost evenly matched! Sukuna could win against Gojo even at 15 fingers.
Gojo doesn’t stand a chance against Sukuna at full power unless he has a secret trump card or, most importantly, some way to counter Sukuna’s Domain Expansion.
7. About Jujutsu Kaisen
Jujutsu Kaisen, also known as Sorcery Fight, is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Gege Akutami, serialized in Weekly Shōnen Jump since March 2018.
An anime television series adaptation produced by MAPPA premiered in October 2020.
The story revolves around Yuuji Itadori, a high-school student who, despite hating athletics, is insanely fit. Yuuji gets involved in the world of sorcery when he swallows a powerful talisman to protect his friends from its curse.
On observing that Yuuji wasn’t affected much even when inflicted with this curse, Satoru decides to send Yuuji on a quest to save the world.
