Sony and Santa Monica Studios have done a great job in keeping quiet about God of War Ragnarok. The upcoming God of War sequel has most of its details kept secret, but Sony surprised fans with a Story trailer at its State of Play event.
The trailer gave a few insights into the game, but most notably, we got a look at Kratos fighting the Norse God of Thunder, Thor. This led to many fans digging inside the trailer to find previously unknown information, and it seems one particular fan found something interesting.
Reddit user xyz_x spotted an interesting way Thor wields his hammer, Mjolnir, in the trailer. The clip shared shows how Thor appears to snap his fingers to recall Mjolnir before trying to attack Kratos.
The clip is taken from the end battle scene between Kratos and Thor. We see Kratos still recalling the Leviathan Axe as he did in 2018’s God of War, but Thor’s Mjolnir has a twist.
Thor’s arrogance and path of violence were hinted at through the various Jotnar Shrines and Mimir’s stories in 2018’s God of War.
His path of carnage against the Jotnar using Mjolnir proves he is just as arrogant and violent as Kratos. Moreover, his wrath isn’t restricted to his enemies, as his son Modi learned in the previous game after his altercation with Kratos alongside his brother Magni, which results in Modi facing his father’s wrath.
Many fans think that Thor will be more significant in the story compared to the King of Asgard, Odin himself. With Odin mostly operating from the shadows, this might eventually be true.
This is just one of the many things spotted inside the trailer, as fans are still speculating what this final Norse adventure of Kratos and Atreus features. We stlll expect more reveals this month as God of War Ragnarok arrives on November 9th for PS5 and PS4.
