The God of High School, by Yongje Park, is a famous Korean manhwa webtoon currently in its sixth season Re: Battle with Gods.
The God of High School anime’s fourth episode came out this Monday and was little different than your usual GOH episodes – episode 5 was not centered around the tournament but the bond b/w Mori, Mira and Daewi.
We saw side stories such as Mira’s ‘what-is-going-on’ wedding and new character introductions such as Seongjin – a Nox member.
GOH episode 4, titled “marriage/bongs,” kicks off from the chapter 25th chapter of the manhwa webtoon and ends at the end of chapter 29.
We see that the capital arena of God of High School tournament’s coming to its end. GOH episode 5 will be coming out next Monday, let’s talk about that now.
1. God of High School Episode 5 Release Date
Episode 5 of The God of High School anime will be released on Monday, August 3, at 7:30 am PDT. The title for the next episode has not been revealed yet.
In the next episode, we will see the second semi-final match of the God of High School tournament Mori Jin (Re:Taekwondo) vs. Jaehee Byun (Brazilian Jiujutsu) which will be followed by the finals Mori vs. Daewi.
2. Episode 5 Preview & Predictions
The God of High School episode 4 ended with Daewi seemingly betraying his friends and ruthlessly beating Mira to a semi-conscious state which begs a lot of questions – Why did Daewi betray Mira and Mori? What will Mori do about it?
Hopefully, we will get the answers to some of those question in the next episode of GOH. Let’s begin with the predictions first. There is a lot that could happen in the fourth of episode GOH anime.
I. Episode 4 Predictions
As things stand, there is not much to be predicted for the fifth episode of the God of High School. Now that Mira Yoo is out of the race Daewi is already in the finals.
The person who will fight Daewi will be none other than Mori Jin which does put a question on the second fight of quarterfinals, Mori Jin vs Jaehee Byun.
Will the GOH anime pay heed to the manga and the breathtaking fight between Byun and Mori or will it be over in a flash and we will move straight to the main event?
II. Episode 4 Spoilers
The fourth episode covered the webtoon chapters 25 to 29. Episode 5 will likely cover chapters 30 to 37 of the Season 1 of God of High School webtoon: The Battle with Gods.
According to the webtoon, the most exciting thing happening in the next episode will be the final match of GOH – the fight between Mori Jin and Daewi Han.
Judging by the pacing followed by Crunchyroll, the second match of quarterfinals will be over in a flash and we will jump right to the main event, i.e., Daewi vs. Mori.

4. Episode 4 Recap & Discussion
Episode 4, titled “marriage/bonds,” starts with Mira, Mori and Daewi walking home together after the GOH quarterfinals, during which, Mira gets a marriage proposal by Seongjin – one of the biggest celebrity martial artist in the country.
After Seongjin promises that he will take care of Mira and will bring the Moon-light Sword Style back to its former glory, Mira accepts the marriage proposal. (This anime moves way too fast!)
Even though the marriage is about to happen the next day, Mira has some doubts in her mind which leads her back to her roots – the Wolfwang dojo and decides this is the best move to honor her father’s wishes.
Mori rushes to Mira’s dojo and asks her to cancel the marriage to which Mira refuses. Mori being Mori does not stop and somehow persuades Daewi into crashing Mira’s wedding.
Onto the wedding day! Mira is looking stunning walking down the aisle, Mira’s uncle suddenly begs the groom to cancel the marriage since Mira is still a child and she’s not thinking for herself. He is, however, stopped by Mira and the marriage continues.
Mori appears in the front and manages to push his way through all the guards without harming them significantly with Daewi’s help. The enraged groom unsheathes his sword and attacks the duo but is stopped by Daewi.
While Daewi blocks Seongjin, Mori quickly dashes towards Mira and convinces her what’s right and what’s not. Mira requests Seongjin to cancel the marriage which makes him admit that he did not want to marry her in the first place.
Seongjin’s goal was to acquire Mira’s wooden sword, which according to him, is no mere sword.
Mira’s sword, called “Bongseon sword,” is the ‘holy sword that can rule the God himself,” and Mira is the ‘hand that controls the Gods.’
Seongjin manages to hurt Mira using his Charyeok but is defeated by Yoo in a single blow. However, he manages to steal the sword during the commotion. The entire incident makes trio’s bond even stronger.
Skip to sometime later, it is revealed that Daewi’s friend is in critical condition and may die. The episode then skips to quarterfinal’s 1st match – Mira vs. Daewi.
To everyone’s surprise, the chivalrous Daewi beats Mira relentlessly on her wound and wins the match by default.
5. What happens next? – MAJOR SPOILERS
Please note that the content ahead contains major spoilers from the webtoon, however to keep the interest of the reader I have hidden the outcome of each user. You are welcome!
I. Did Daewi betray Mori and Mira?
If you have not read the webtoon and just came here after episode 4, you must be thinking about Daewi’s reason for betraying Mori Jin and Mira Yoo.
Let me end that query by saying that Daewi did not betray Mori Jin and Mira Yoo, and he’s still the same old friend-loving and karate-practicing chivalrous man.
In episode 4, we see that Daewi’s friend is in critical condition and my not survive till Daewi wins the GOH tournament.
So, Daewi goes to Mujin Park and requests him what would it take for Mujin to help his friend to which Mujin demands an ‘overwhelming victory.’
II. Mori vs. Daewi
Mori Jin vs. Daewi Han will be the final match of the God of High School tournament for the central team. It is in this match that the truth about Daewi’s actions comes into light.
In addition to this, we will be told that Mira never had a grudge against Daewi in this first place as she accepted her defeat – it as only Mori who got raging angry.
But, this match, in all likelihood, will not even conclude in the next episode as the second match of quarterfinals – Mori vs Byun is still pending.
III. Taejin Jin vs. Nox
This is something that happens early in the webtoon and will not be shown in the anime any soon.
Why do I say this? It seems like Sunghoo Park has something else planned for Mori’s adoptive grandfather as all of his appearances have been cleverly removed from the anime.
So, in all likelihood, Taejin Jin’s fight with the Nox will be shown later in the anime.
6. About God of High School
The God of High School or GOH is a South Korean webtoon written by Yongje Park. God of High School was first posted on Naver Webtoon on 8 April 2011; it was one of the first webtoons to receive an English translation at the launch of Line Webtoon app and website in July 2014.
While an island half-disappearing from the face of the earth, a mysterious organization is sending out invitations for a tournament to every skilled fighter in the world. “If you win you can have ANYTHING you want”.
