The God of High School, by Yongje Park, is a famous Korean manhwa webtoon currently in its sixth season Re: Battle with Gods.
The God of High School anime’s first episode came out this Monday as a Crunchyroll Exclusive, and needless to say, it took all of us in one fell swoop. Here’s my complete review of the GOH episode 1 and anime as a whole – The God of High School Review.
GOH episode 1 anime kicks off from the chapter 4th chapter of the manhwa webtoon and ends at the end of chapter 7.
We see the beginning of the twenty-seventh God of High School tournament along with various character introductions. GOH episode 2 will be coming out next Monday, let’s talk about that now.
1. God of High School Episode 2 Release Date
Episode 2 of The God of High School anime will be released on Monday, July 13, at 7:30 am PDT. The title for the next episode has not been revealed yet.
In the next episode, we will see the beginning of the next phase of The God of High School tournament – the one vs one matches begin! It will likely show the match between Gamdo Go and Manseok Gang.
2. Episode 2 Preview & Predictions
The God of High School episode 1 ended with Mori and Gang dashing towards each other in mid-air, ready for a kick. Unfortunately, there was no preview in the first episode so all we are left with are spoilers and predictions.
Let’s begin with the predictions first. There is a lot that could happen in the second of episode GOH anime. Who will win the duel? Gang or Mori?
There is also the possibility of Mira and Daewi barging in the match. Will it become a three vs one match?
The preview images for The God of High School episode 2 came out recently and teased multiple events.
SPOILER ALERT: Skip the next paragraph if you don’t want spoilers.
See the third image where all executives are targeting Mori Jin. Well, let’s just say he is not as week as Manseok made him look. In the next episode, Mori will beat him in an unofficial match and will face disqualification.
It should be noted that both Mori Jin and Gamdo Go are Taekwondo users yet their fighting styles are different. What could be the reason for that? Whose Taekwondo is stronger? It looks like we will find out all of this in the next episode.
I. Episode 2 Spoilers
The first episode covered the webtoon chapters 4 to 7. Episode 2 will likely cover chapters 8 to 11 of the Season 1 of God of High School webtoon: The Battle with Gods.
According to the webtoon, the most unexpected will happen in the next episode! During the mid-air attack sequence, Mira will attack Mori along with Gang breaking Mori’s neck!
If you are thinking what just happened, well, she is angry about Mori keeping her sword in his mouth. The battle royal round will end right before that second and all four (Mori, Daewi, Mira, Manseok) will continue to the second round.

4. Episode 1 Recap & Discussion
The first episode begins with one of the most fascinating scenes of the webtoon – a lawyer accusing Mujin Park of some allegations that ‘may or may not be true’ (who am I kidding, they are definitely true). Suddenly, the entire island they are hanging out on is destroyed.
The catch is that ruins of the destroyed island are in the shape of a hand. This event shocks the entire militant forces around the world (even the US) – who could be so strong that they can remotely destroy an island with their hand?
(Well, without spoiling much, let’s just say Mujin Park is stronger than your average God.)
Back to current events, the anime takes perfect amount of time to introduce the characters and their unique personalities.
Our next-door anime protagonist, Mori Jin wakes up only to realize that he’s already hours late. He gets up, puts his pants on and leaves for his destination on his bicycle. Here’s the crazy part, Mori takes a shortcut by JUMPING FROM THE MOUNTAIN DIRECTLY INTO TO THE TOWN IN THE BICYCLE!
Next character intros are of the two side MCs of the anime, Daewi Han the ‘Mad Cow’ and Mira Yoo. Daewi is a high schooler and a part-time worker at the convenience store. It looks like he’s collecting money for something, and loads of it.
Mira, on the other hand, is looking for the arena for The God of High School tournament. She runs into some martial artists sitting near by and complements them on their muscles. She runs into Mori or rather Mori hits her face with the front tire of his bicycle since he’s in a weird road-chase with a motorcycle-thief.
Angered by the fact, that Mori broke her glasses, the seemingly week and girly Mira turns into her true color – a beast and a master swordsman, and throws her sword precisely at Mori, making fell with one hit.
However, as the Webtoon says, truth always prevails, she decides to help Mori catch the thief and now Mori’s peddling while Mira is standing on the backseat of the bicycle with her sword.
If you are thinking, just how crazier it can get, this is not even below their normal!
After some interesting car chase, Mira makes her final attack – she jumps from a bicycle, makes a stance in mid-air, readies her attack, unsheathe her sword IN MID-AIR, but runs into a billboard from her face and fells. (OMFG, right?)
Luckily the calm and composed Mad Cow appears and Daewi stops the thief using one punch. They both then sit on Mori’s ‘vehicle’ and dash towards the GOH arena.
The GOH tournament begins and the commentator /Judge /Commissioner T announces the rules – this is the God of High School tournament. Everything is allowed from fighting styles to weapons. Don’t worry about any wounds because our nanotech will fix it!
And, the tournament begins. Yes, just like that! It’s a Battle Royale between all the contestants standing in the arena and the last ones standing move to the next round.
Initially confused participants began fighting with each other, and we see some of the other prominent characters from the webtoon being introduced such as Gamdo Go and Seungcheol Baek.
After an array of interesting fights comes the biggest and the baddest – Manseok Gang (Taekwondo). Manseok beats up a multitude of fighters until Mori comes. Gang kicks Mori ramming into a wall and to everyone’s surprise Mori has already broken the ankle of his leg right at the moment of impact.
The fight between Mori Jin and Manseok Gang begins!
Fun fact: Gang is a student of Taekwondo whose strongest attack is kick. But you need your hands to create balance for a powerful kick. If you haven’t noticed it yet, Manseok has shown great strength with his hands still tied.
