1. Release Date
Given Season 2 is yet to be announced. We can expect an announcement for the release in mid-2021, and the come out could be as early as Winter 2022. Season 2 will most likely be renewed after the international release of the Given movie that hit Japanese theatres in August 2020.
Given movie will release on DVD and Blu-ray on February 3, 2021. Crunchyroll also announced that the movie will be available to watch on their service by February 2021.
As of January 2021, there are only 6 volumes in the original manga, 3 out of which have already been adapted. The anime creators might probably wait for the manga to produce more material before renewing the anime for a second season.
2. What to Expect From Season 2
Season 1 of Given mainly focused on the relationship of Ritsuka, the guitarist, and his classmate, Mafuyu, while the movie explored the bond between Haruki, the bassist, and drummer Akihiko. Ugetsu Murata, Akihiko’s ex-boyfriend, also played a significant role in the movie.
Season 2 will continue building upon the existing relationships of the band members. We can also expect the band to experience new musical challenges as they become more experienced and skilled. As always, Season 2 would tug at the audiences’ heartstrings.
Given is quiet the musical rollercoaster! From comedy to romance to heartbreaking backstories, the anime has it all. Perhaps it was a death that triggered our protagonist to choose music in the first place.
3. About Given
Somehow the guitar he used to love to play, and the basketball games that he found, so fun, just lost their appeal…that was until Ritsuka Uenoyama randomly met Mafuyu Sato.
Ritsuka had started losing his passion for music until he heard Mafuyu sing for the first time. The song resonates with his heart, and the distance between them starts to change.
