Ginny and Georgia showrunner, Sarah Lampert shared a promising update regarding the production status of the teen-drama Netflix series, Ginny and Georgia. The show will be returning on Netflix with a second season very soon.
Sarah Lampert’s teen comedy-drama series premiered on Netflix in 2021, and followed the story of a 30-year-old woman, who shifts to a town in New England with her teenage daughter, Ginny and son, Austin to give them a better life.
Though the show was initially viewed as a Gilmore Girls rip-off, it eventually found its own band of loyal followers. The show went on to be a hit by retaining its spot on Netflix’s top 10 list for several weeks. Eventually, Netflix renewed the series for season 2.
A few months ago, it was announced that the cast had wrapped up filming for the upcoming season. However, no official release date has been announced. Now, showrunner Sarah Lampert has an additional update for fans.
Lampert posted an image on the official Ginny and Georgia behind-the-scenes account on Instagram, indicating that post-production of Ginny and Georgia season 2 is almost complete.
Lampert’s caption excited fans further, as it read, “So close to being done I can taste it.”
As of now, there are no plot details available for the upcoming season. Season 1 ended with a cliff-hanger, with Ginny finding out about her mother’s many secrets. Dejected, Ginny hops on a motorcycle with her brother Austin, and drives away from her mother and Wellsbury.
It is not clear where Ginny drove at the end of season 2. However, reports suggest that Aaron Ashmore has joined the cast of Ginny and Georgia season 2 as Austin’s father. So, the siblings could be heading to his place. Season 2 will delve more into this.
The new image that Lampert posted hints at positive news. Although no release date has been fixed yet, Netflix has their next iteration of promotions, the TUDUM event, scheduled for September 24. We can expect the trailer for season 2 as well the announcement of a release date to drop in TUDUM.
