Gigabyte has surprisingly included their unannounced SKU support in their latest update for Gigabyte Control Center software. This applies to their upcoming GeForce RTX 4070/4060 GPUs, about which the company has been pretty much silent for long.
Gigabyte Control Center received its new update– 23.03.02.01, which featured support for two unreleased cards– Gigabyte RTX 4070 AERO OC 12GB (GV-N4070AERO OC-12G) and Gigabyte RTX 4060 GAMING OC 8GB (GV-N4060GAMING OC-8GD).
Gigabyte’s unexpected update officially confirms the memory configuration for the GeForce RTX 4070/4060 cards. As suggested by the Gigabyte product code, the RTX 4070 will feature 12GB of memory capacity. The GPU will have the same 192-bit GDDR6X memory as the RTX 4070 Ti. The only difference is that the former will have fewer active CUDA cores and will be priced lower than the Ti variant.
It seems like all those rumors about the RTX 4060 were true indeed, the graphics card will have an 8GB memory as expected. This will be a downgrade from the last-gen GeForce RTX 3060, which had a 12GB GDDR6 memory.
The reason behind this disappointing spec is that the RTX 4060 and RTX 4060 Ti are powered by AD107 and AD106 processors, which only have a 128-bit memory interface. Hence, the only option left is to use 8GB or 16GB of memory.

NVIDIA is expected to announce the RTX 4070 non-Ti variant just a day prior to its scheduled launch on 13th April. There’s no release date available for the RTX 4060 yet. However, board partners are expected to launch it in May. The pricing for RTX 4070 & RTX 4060 has not been revealed yet.
