The creators of Ghost of Tsushima (GoT) have officially announced a game along similar lines called Ghost of Yotei. The announcement has already sent a wave of excitement throughout the entire Ghost of Tsushima fanbase, and the expectations are already skyrocketing for the new title.
However, the new title does not directly relate to the previous works of the Sucker Punch productions, the creator of GoT, which may be a letdown for many.
1. When will the Ghost of Yotei Come Out?
The Ghost of Yotei will come out in the year 2025 as confirmed by the Developers in the latest announcement trailer. As the game is just announced it is difficult to put an exact date on the release of the new title.

2. Is Ghost of Yotei a sequel to the Ghost of Tsushima?
Ghost of Yotei is a spin-off story and not a direct sequel or prequel to the Ghost of Tsushima. It can be considered a spiritual successor of GoT, as Yotei’s environment, and gameplay is identical to it.
Ghost of Yotei features a completely new protagonist, new gameplay mechanics, and a new storyline set in a completely different Japanese era.
3. Who is the protagonist in Ghost of Yotei?
Atsu is the new female protagonist of the Ghost of Yotei. She is another wandering ghost like Jin Sakai. Atsu is played by Erika Ishii, who has previously featured in animated series like Sailor Moon Eternal and The Disastrous Life of Saiki K.: Reawakened.
4. What is the Ghost of Yotei about?
The story of Ghost of Yotei takes place in 1603, almost 300 years after the events of Ghost of Tsushima. It takes place around the lands of Mount Yotei which is located in the Ezo region (Hokkaido in modern Japan).
The developers have further painted a picture of the environment stating, “This area was outside the rule of Japan, and filled with sprawling grasslands, snowy tundras, and unexpected dangers. It’s a far cry from the organized samurai clans who lived in Tsushima, and it’s the setting for an original story we can’t wait to tell.”
Apart from the new storyline and setting, the game also brings new gameplay mechanics like the use of firearms in combats.
