If Batman fans needed a reminder for the upcoming movie, Google has their backs with its very own Bat-Signal.
A simple search for ‘Gotham City’ or ‘Bruce Wayne’ pops up an animated Bat-Signal icon, clicking on which an average-sized Batman logo appears right on the user’s screen.
The yellow-white-black icon appears either on top of the screen or at the corner of the box on the right side. Even though not in-your-face, the simple animation would catch anyone’s eyes in an instant.
Once a user clicks on the icon, lights dim, and gray skies float by on the screen. The Bat-Signal appears at the top, but that’s not all. The Caped Crusader flings a wire and flies across the screen too.
The interactive UI on the search page for two extremely common (and related) words for The Batman has fans all riled up. Unfortunately, it doesn’t spring up on a search for ‘The Batman’.
Nevertheless, the marketing strategy has helped create more buzz around Matt Reeves’ movie.
The Bat-Signal marketing activity rolled out during the same hours when Pattinson and Zoe Kravitz walked the red carpet premiere of The Batman, stunning everyone.
The duo dressed up similar to the 2017 Batman comic (#37), which had the Caped Crusader donning a gray overcoat suit with a black turtleneck and partner Catwoman a body-hugging short black dress.
Meanwhile, Reeves also released the final soundtrack – focused on Catwoman – by composer Michael Giacchino a few days ago.
Google taking part in a movie promotion isn’t a daily event. It does so only rarely, and with globally recognized films.
One of the memorable interactive techniques remains that of the Avengers: Endgame, where clicking on the gauntlet made half of the results disappear the Thanos way.
The Google Bat-Signal, although not too much, helps keep the momentum around the movie.
The Batman will hit the theaters worldwide on March 4 and will only arrive on streaming platform HBO Max 45 days later.
