The celebrity life is tough, no doubt. But it’s tougher if you’re an A-list star with a lawyer wife putting terrorist groups on trial. Oscar-winning actor George Clooney has spoken up about protecting his kids’ lives by penning an open letter to Daily Mail and other tabloids, requesting them never to upload their photos.
George Clooney and his wife Amal Clooney have successfully kept their private life, especially their twins’ photos, a secret. A recent incident regarding Billie Lourd’s one-year-old baby’s photos doing the rounds (uploaded and later taken down by Daily Mail) has shaken them up a bit.
Posting pictures of their children without their consent will make the kids a highly vulnerable target. In such cases where “real-world consequences” might be imminent, their conscious choice of maintaining their kids’ anonymity is what makes the parents feel safe.
Clooney wrote a crisp and formal letter, explaining that while he chose the celebrity life, his children, Ella and Alexander, did not. Amal Clooney has quite a reputation as a lawyer, as she deals with international law and human rights, often putting herself on trial against terrorist groups.

An open letter to the Daily Mail and other publications.
Having just seen photos of Billie Lourd’s 1 year-old baby in your publication, and the fact that you subsequently took those pictures down, we would request that you refrain from putting our children’s faces in your publication. I am a public figure and accept the oftentimes intrusive photos as part of the price to pay for doing my job. Our children have made no such commitment.
The nature of my wife’s work has her confronting and putting on trial terrorist groups and we take as much precaution as we can to keep our family safe. We cannot protect our children if any publication puts their faces on their cover.
We have never sold a picture of our kids, we are not on social media and never post pictures because to do so would put their lives in jeopardy. Not paranoid jeopardy but real-world issues, with real-world consequences.
We hope that you would agree that the need to sell advertisements isn’t greater than the need to keep innocent children from being targeted.

Clooney previously slammed Voici, a French magazine, in 2017 for clicking and posting photos of his twins. He even announced that he would sue the photographers, the agency, and the magazine.
