Released on September 28th, 2020, Genshin Impact has enjoyed extensive praise, a solid player base, and considerable commercial success. In fact, within just the first two weeks, the game crossed $100 million in revenue – very impressive for a new IP. The game was initially released on PlayStation, PC, iOS, and Android. Nintendo fans quickly demanded a version for the Switch as well. And while they got their wish, they may have to wait a while longer to actually play the game.
Genshin Impact was officially announced for the Nintendo Switch on January 14th, 2020. Nearly a year and a half later, players are still eagerly awaiting the arrival of the game on their system. And now, a reputable leaker has stated that the delay may be longer than expected.
This news comes from Genshin Report, a leaker dedicated to news about Genshin Impact. They state that the Switch version of the game has been delayed due to the lower-specced hardware inside the Nintendo Switch. This may seem surprising, primarily since the game has performed pretty well on mobile devices. Genshin Impact is a fairly demanding game due to the constant updates and the size of its open world, which features many RPG elements and complex gameplay systems.
But it’s not all bad news on the horizon, as Genshin Report has also said that the Switch version of the game is likely to release sometime this year. We already have confirmation on a PS5 version to be released soon. We don’t have a specific release date or release window yet, but at least we know it should be out soon. In a Twitter post, Genshin Report said that while it may be pushed back, there is also a possibility that Genshin Impact may be a Switch Pro exclusive.
Even though the source is credible, it should be noted that this is still just a rumor as we have received no news from miHoYo regarding the Genshin Impact Switch port. But, it will be interesting to see if the game comes out for the Nintendo Switch or will be a Switch Pro exclusive.
