Genshin Impact Version 4.6 to go live on April 24 – Details and more

Genshin Impact Version 4.6 will be released on April 24th. Developers recently released a pre-installation function which makes the whole update process easier. Players can download resources for future updates in advance. This feature is available for both PC and mobile devices.

According to the official Genshin Impact Twitter, servers will undergo maintenance at 06:00 (UTC+8) on April 24th (Thursday). Maintenance usually takes somewhere around five hours so Version 4.6 will be available 11:00 (UTC+8).

Thanks to the pre-installation feature, the update will be finished much faster after servers are back online. Apart from reducing buffer time, players can access the new content soon. 

The pre-installation resource package for PC will be between 28.72-36.2 GB and between 8.57-9.9 GB for mobile devices. Developers suggest clearing up space in advance since game files will take up a large space.

Here’s a quick guide on how you can update Game Client: 

• PC:
  • Close the game, open Genshin Impact Launcher, and click Update.
• iOS:
  • Open the App Store and tap Update.
• Android:
  • Open the game and follow the directions on-screen.
• PS5 and PS4:
  • Highlight Genshin Impact from the Home Screen, press the OPTIONS button and select “Check for Update”.

To make up for the time lost, players will receive Maintenance Compensation worth 300 Primogems (60 for every hour the servers are down). The compensation will be delivered via mail five hours after update maintenance is finished. Players must claim it before Version 4.6 ends within 30 days.
