There’s some good news for Genshin Impact players at last. After the never-ending wait for version 2.7, a brand new character has been announced, and it looks promising. This might not be what the fans were waiting for, but it is something to keep busy for the time being.
Shikanoin Heizou is the next playable character in Genshin Impact, and fans can expect to see him in the 2.8 version of the game. The next-in-line version 2.7 has characters Yelan and Kuki Shinobu , released just days before the launch of version 2.6.
Usually, a new character comes along with the latest update, but given that the said update was taking longer this time, the developers at Hoyoverse decided to release the character ahead of schedule, which is why this came as quite a surprise for the fanbase.
The official announcement on Twitter described Heizou as
“A young detective from the Tenryou Commission. Free-spirited and unruly, but cheerful and lively. “
This also confirms a new Anemo unit is coming to Inazuma. The rarity of Heizou is still undisclosed, but he is rumored to be a 4-star character based on his design simplicity.
The rating system in Genshin Impact is an indicator of how extravagant a character’s design is, with five stars being the most. From the preview, Shikanoin Heizou falls a bit short on the splendor side, so it can be safe to say that his rating will be 4-star.
Genshin Impact’s Facebook post dives deeper into the character traits of Heizou.
His existence was teased by characters Kamisato Ayaka, Kujou Sara, Thoma, Sangonomiya Kokomi, and Gorou. It will be interesting to see how an eminent Tenryou Commission detective plays along with the Lumine and Aether storyline.
This announcement contradicted the previous leak, which suggested Heizou would be an Electro character wielding a Catalyst. His wielded weapon is unknown, but players suggest it be either a Sword or a melee weapon. If Heizou becomes a Catalyst user, he will be the first male character to do so.
There’s currently no update for when Genshin Impact 2.7 will be playable, and the Serenitea Pot is also still under work. This new announcement could mean that the update will take even longer.
