Anime adapted from games is quite popular and is always well-received. But one game that was most anticipated to receive an anime was Genshin Impact. It is one of the most successful games in the open-world genre and manages to keep its players active daily.
An anime adaptation was announced a year ago when they decided to collaborate with Ufotable, but recently, a short anime was revealed.
Genshin Impact “The Road Not Taken” Anime Official Announcement
Genshin Impact announced a new short anime, “The Road Not Taken,” on social media. However, only a key visual was revealed, indicating that the anime will be coming soon. The exact date and trailer were not disclosed.
The key visual features the two main character siblings, Aether and Lumine, lying on a grassy field. Aether’s eyes are closed, and Lumine’s are open.
It is worth noting that the Genshin Impact Version 4.7 livestream, scheduled for Friday, May 24, 2024, may reveal more information about the anime. Keep an eye out for it.
Will Ufotable Make This Short Anime?
In September 2022, Genshin Impact announced their long-term project with Ufotable and revealed a concept trailer for the anime adaptation.
The trailer has some of the best animation and graphics quality, as expected from the studio. Fans were quite excited about the adaptation, but there were no further announcements until now.
Ufotable is very busy with the Demon Slayer’s production, so it’s hard to say if they are making this short anime. However, the Hoyoverse team will likely make the anime instead of the renowned studio.
Potential Plot of Genshin Impact “The Road Not Taken”
The plot is completely speculative and is not officially confirmed.
If you are familiar with literature, you might know about a poem called “The Road Not Taken” by Robert Frost. The main theme of the poem was to make choices in life. If we link this with Genshin Impact, the siblings (Lumine and Aether) go on a different path.
In the game, you can choose between one of the siblings as the main character. An unknown God traps the other sibling that you do not choose, and both are separated. After awakening from sleep, your journey starts as you meet Paimon, the travel guide. Both of you travel across Teyvat to reunite with your lost sibling.
Here, things get interesting. Five hundred years ago, the lost sibling was awakened before you and explored the world, witnessing the destruction of Khaenri’ah, an ancient nation without a God. People of that nation were turned into monsters from the Abyss Order. Now, the lost sibling has decided to join the Abyss and seek revenge from the Gods.
Considering this, we might expect the anime to adapt the part before the siblings were separated, as the visual shows both of them. However, the anime might also show us one of the siblings’ perspectives after they wake up.
Overall, no matter what the plot is, both the anime and the Genshin community are hyped up about the long-awaited anime.
