Kadokawa recently revealed the cast, staff, and a new key visual for the Gamera -Rebirth– anime project that was announced earlier this year. The popular Gamera franchise has been a fan-favourite for decades now, and a new edition to the franchise is long overdue.
The action-fantasy anime will consist of 6 episodes and will focus on the titular Gamera as he fights five Kaiju in the ultimate battle.
The previously released visual and teaser for the anime previewed Gyaos as one of the monsters Gamera will fight in the series. The teaser highlights the unique and striking character design of Gyaos, showcasing Takahama’s brilliant artistic skills.
The teaser gives a glimpse into the revamped animation style of the new series that is distinct to that of the original Gamera anime.
The anime stars Hisako Kanemoto as Boko, Yoshitsugu Matsuoka as Joe, Aki Toyosaki as Junichi, and Subaru Kimura as Brody.
Hiroyuki Seshita is at the helm as the director of the series, with Kenta Ihara and Hiroshi Seko penning the scripts alongside Tetsuya Yamada.
The character designs are being handled by Atsushi Tamura, with manga creator Kan Takahama designing the monsters himself. Shuji Katayama is composing the music, with Yoshikazu Iwanami serving as sound director.
Netflix will stream the anime worldwide, upon its release.
The giant, fire-breathing turtle monster Gamera was first introduced to audiences in Daiei’s 1965 film Daikaiju Gamera, which has since inspired many more renditions of the widely-loved monster.
The long-running franchise’s most recent entry was the 2006 movie Chiisaki Yūsha-tachi ~Gamera~(Gamera the Brave).
