The upcoming anime series, “Futsal Boys!!!!!” makes it pretty obvious that 2022 will be the year of the sports-themed anime.
Futsal Boys is a multimedia project by Bandai Namco Arts, Bandai Namco Entertainment, and Diomedea. The project aims to release anime, games and coordinate real-life matches whose results will affect the anime’s plot.
Like any other sports anime, the franchise will focus on multiple teams who will compete against each other. Futsal might not be as popular as its sibling sport, soccer, but its thrill is even more intense since it is a compact game.
1. Futsal Boys!!!!! Anime Release Date
Futsal Boys!!!!! anime is scheduled to be released in January 2022. The franchise has not released an episode list as of yet. Crunchyroll might stream the anime once it is released.

Previously, the Futsal Boys anime release date was set for this year but it got delayed to next year as the franchise plans on improving its quality further.
The voice actors will also compete in the first tournament of the multimedia project, entitled “Get Ready!! Futsal Boys!!!!! Hi-Fi Cup ~ Boku-tachi no Debut-Sen!,” coming December 29, 2021, in Tokyo.
2. Key Visual
Two key visuals for Futsal Boys!!!!! anime has been released.
The first key visual shows Yamato and Sakaki of Koyo Gakuen High School. Both of them belong to the Koyo Futsal Club.
Five clubs posing in their football uniforms and with their respective club flags behind them are seen in the second key visual. The clubs are Awanogawa, Okazan, Koyo, Adalbert, and Momomi, respectively, from the left.
Three trailers have been released for the upcoming anime “Futsal Boys!!!!!.”
A dramatic first trailer gives a preview of Yamato and Sakaki in action. The trailer also previews both the opening and ending theme songs.
The second trailer gives a glimpse of the daily lives of the Koyo Futsal Club. It shows the club members practicing their footwork even on the rooftop of their school.
Their positive energy to become better can be seen throughout the video, and the upbeat music in the background compliments them.
A preview of the “Koyo Futsal Club” members along with their respective cast is displayed in the third trailer. The trailer also sneaks a melodious track which may likely be one of the theme songs for the anime.
4. Characters for Futsal Boys!!!!!
Here are some of the new characters we will see in the upcoming anime:
I. Haru Yamato
Haru Yamato is one of the main characters in Futsal Boys!!!!!. Haru has a bright and straight personality. He was inspired to join futsal after seeing Tokinari Tennouiji’s performance.
II. Seiichiro Sakaki
Seiichiro is a core member of the Koyo Futsal Club. He doesn’t trust his teammates, especially the newcomer Haru Yamato. He thinks it’s better if he does everything by himself.
III. Toi Tsukioka
Toi is the captain of the Koyo Futsal Club. He studied in Spain for a year and came back to Japan.
IV. Tsubaki Yukinaga
Tsubaki is the sub captain of Koyo Futsal Club. He isn’t very familiar with fashion and technology.
V. Ryu Nagumo
Ryu is a member of the Koyo Futsal Club. He is a bit shorter compared to his teammates, but he doesn’t mind being small and always brings a good mood to the team.
VI. Taiga Amakado
Taiga is a member of the Koyo Futsal Club. He is a former yankee(delinquent) with poor eyesight and communication abilities and is easily misunderstood.
5. Plot/Storyline
It has been more than ten years since the sport of futsal has enjoyed a worldwide boom. With the country producing many star players, futsal has become very popular in Japan,
While watching the final of the U-18 (“Under 18”) World Cup, Haru Yamato is entranced by the performance of Tokinari Tennouiji, one of the players on Japan’s national team.
Haru then enrolls in the futsal club of Koyo Gakuen High School in high spirits. He encounters the solitary player Sakaki Seiichiro who won’t pass the ball to his companion and Tsukioka Toi, who once quit futsal.
Despite their respective past, each of them still wants to play futsal.
While being swayed easily, they are dashing forward passionately. The all-out moments of the high school boys have started.
6. Theme songs for Futsal Boys!!!!!
Artists for the theme songs have been released.
The opening theme song is titled “Bravemaker” which will be performed by Takao Sakuma. A preview of the opening theme song is given in the first trailer.
“STEREO DIVE FOUNDATION” will be in charge of the ending theme song. The title for the ED is yet to be decided.

Futsal Boys is a multimedia project by Bandai Namco Arts, Bandai Namco Entertainment, and Diomedea. This project will include an anime, a mobile application, and real futsal matches to be played between the cast members.
Futsal has skyrocketed in global popularity in ten years. Protagonist Haru Yamato watches the U-18 world cup championship and is inspired by a Japanese player named Tokinari Tenōji.
He joins the Koyo Academy High School’s futsal team to become a player like Tenōji. There, he finds friends, and together they face their rivals.
