Mieruko-chan is an upcoming anime about a high school girl who suddenly starts seeing gruesome monsters. Rather than submitting to fear, she decides to act oblivious and make her life simpler.
The manga for the series has gathered some significant attention during its still ongoing three-year run. Naturally, fans were excited to find out about the anime adaptation; now they even know where they can watch it.
Funimation will stream the upcoming horror comedy anime Mieruko-chan. The anime is set to premiere on October 3, 2021.
It is really hard to pull off comedy and horror at the same time, somehow it feels like Mieruko-chan will be able to do it.
The horror in the series isn’t something that is hanging over your head all the time in the story. Instead, it is in the spectacle of creepy and hideous monsters, which look like something out of a Junji Ito manga. Given how the manga is consistently praised for its art, you know it is going to be good.
There is little doubt that Studio Passione will be able to bring all those aspects from the manga to the anime format given their experience with a series like Higurashi – When They Cry.
So, where does the humor fit into all this? Well, Mieruko freaking out on the inside and keeping an oblivious demeanor on the outside to ward of any attention from the monsters is pretty hilarious.
Put this on your list for the upcoming season, you will not be disappointed.
