Episode 12 Recap
The episode begins with a flashback showing Messar and Princess Arume playing together when they were younger. The Princess covers her face with a veil as her mother instructs her to unveil it in front of those she trusts. Arume said that if Messar defeated her, she would do anything for him.
In the present, Messar traveled to visit Princess Arume to obtain the design for Renril Castle and the realm. She vehemently disputed it, though, as Messar strode off with pride.
In other places, Fushi was being approached by people asking him to reconstruct their homes under the pretense of Booze Man, who was determined to make his version of every house. At this point, Fushi took the form of a wolf and approached Hairo, who had been instructing the civilian soldiers. Fushi noticed that Hairo was in significant discomfort.
The truth is that even when his teeth were routinely removed from his mouth, Hairo experienced no discomfort. He had previously resided at the Bennet Church, where he was cared for by Tasette and fed only liquid meals. Tasette treated him well on his birthday, gave him fake teeth as a gift, and gave him a nice lunch; she was then replaced and perhaps slain.
Hairo had been waiting for a chance to escape Bennett Church’s restrictions ever since, so he took Bon with him as he fled. One of the citizen troops, Kamu, heard the tale as he later joined Fushi and the others.
Later, Messar was much more concerned with mastering a game while Fushi and the crew studied their speed to replace the entire town with Fushi’s reinforced buildings. Fushi found this upsetting and began eating his dinner with other people.
Bonchien disclosed that he had known Messar since childhood and thought he might have some link to the Renril Palace. Messar is then shown leaving to play the game with Princess Arume after this scene.
In return for his victory, Messar sought Arume’s trust so she might instruct her subjects to assist Fushi in demolishing their homes to advance the entire infrastructure-rebuilding project. He blows air on her veil, revealing her face. After he succeeds, Fushi asks him if he loves the princess, and Messar refuses – but as he leaves, Fushi can sense his love for her.
