Fruits Basket is a Japanese shōjo manga series written and illustrated by Natsuki Takaya. It tells the story of Tohru Honda, an orphan girl who, after meeting Yuki, Kyo, and Shigure Soma, learns that the Chinese zodiac animals possess twelve members of the Soma family.

2. Episode 18 Preview & Speculation
The preview of episode 18 was not shown at the end of the previous episode. The title is “Wanna Kiss?” we speculate that this episode will focus mainly on Rin’s past and will dive into the roots of her romantic relationship with Haru and her connection to the Soma family.
Viewers expect to see Yuki’s full backstory and are already aware it is not coming without more pain and suffering. Finally, after the sweet and fluffy episode 17, the plot will take a dangerous turn!
3. Recap of Episode 17
I. Time for Confession
Episode 17, titled “You Will, I’m sure” begins with the school trip at Kyoto and Nara, Tohru marvels at the majestic bamboo forest and Hana recites a haiku (not really a haiku) and Tohru follows.
As Arisa complains about that place being overrated for trips, they plan to have a girl’s trip only sometime in the future, visit temples and shrines, eat delicious food, and witness a murder thanks to the influence of tv dramas.
Tohru narrated the events of the previous night when she and Kyo forgot about the trip, which leads to her frantic preparation for the next day.
If it’s the school trip, then it is all about the romantic confessions, as Tohru and Arisa discuss Yuki being the prince but not getting any love confessions yet; the reason for it is because his protection squad was working from the shadows! On the other hand, Kyo gets confessed to by many girls, so Arisa, Hana, and the other guys go to spy on him.
II. She hasn’t realized yet
The group returns in chaos after the confession. Tohru gets separated from the group while buying a souvenir but runs into Kyo, waiting for her while playing with a cat.
He somehow manages to anger the cat for flirting with Tohru and gets scratched on the face. Upon hearing Kyo say he cannot be kind to anyone, Tohru wonders if he would let her go like this someday.
When he treats her kindly and suggests they hang out, her sullen mood lifts, but she does not yet realize her strange feelings for him. In the morning, Yuki’s roommates face difficulty in waking him up as he sits up straight, sleeping with his eyes open and then sleepwalks.
Nabe rescues the worried students by waking Yuki up just with his “pampered little girl” comment.
III. The way I am, it’s okay
Tohru’s group feeds deer and moves on to the bus station. Yuki tells Tohru he would be the happiest to make fun memories on the trip when asked if he wanted any souvenir.
She reassures him saying, “You Will, I’m sure,” and these memories would shine within him. Nabe and Yuki sit on a bench by the river and talk about Tohru, and it ends up in an argument about 18+ videos.
After the trip, Yuki gifts Machi the maple leaf he found beautiful, and Tohru gets caught up in completing the zodiac figurines; Kyo feels happy to see her working hard on them.

Fruits Basket, abbreviated to Furuba or Fruba, is a Japanese shōjo manga series written and illustrated by Natsuki Takaya. It was serialized in the semi-monthly Japanese magazine Hana to Yume, published by Hakusensha, from 1998 to 2006.
The series’ title comes from the name of a popular game played in Japanese elementary schools, alluded to in the series.
