I. Arisa & Kureno
Episode 16, titled “Ask him for me,” begins with Momiji having to discontinue violin lessons with his same teacher, because Momo may have taken notice of him.
Tohru decides to visit the Soma house but being too nervous keeps walking around the block. She narrates the reason behind her visit, starting with asking Arisa about the reason behind quitting all her part-time jobs.
Arisa decides upon it because she feels tired of getting worked up every time hoping to run into Kureno-san. Tohru tells her she recognizes the name and relation to the Soma family and that she could check if it’s the same person Arisa has been searching for long.
But Arisa refuses for her to go that far. Tohru enquires about him with Kyo, and he tells her what little information he has on Kureno.
II. At the Soma House, the Siblings.
Back in the present, Tohru roams absent-mindedly on the street around the Soma house, while walking she hears someone playing the violin and accidentally knocks down Momo.
Momo takes Tohru by her skirt, and they enter the home through a secret entrance. Tohru learns of Momo’s efforts to sneak in and listen to Momiji play, though unaware that she was his younger sister.
She wants Momiji to be her older brother as she wishes to get along with him and hence asks Tohru to convey the message to him. After Momo leaves, Tohru enters Momiji’s room.
He tells her about his concerns and not being able to take violin lessons anymore. However, Tohru conveys Momo’s feelings with tears in her eyes, which hits Momiji with delight and sorrow. He makes his dream about wanting to be a violinist know and to play in front of his family.
III. One Step Closer
Momiji offers to take Tohru to meet Kureno, but she doesn’t let him since it would put him in trouble with Akito. She finally gets to see him after he saves her from being found out while hiding.
Upon mentioning, Arisa catches his reaction in an instant, which confirms her doubt. But he tells her he has no plans to meet Arisa again, so without pushing it much, Tohru hands him Arisa’s contact information.
Kureno lets her go as Momiji reaches there to check on her situation. After going back home, Kyo finds Tohru on the roof, and he comforts her, for she becomes sentimental about the heartaches in this episode.
