Fruits Basket is a Japanese shōjo manga series written and illustrated by Natsuki Takaya.

The title for episode 16 of the Fruits Basket anime was not revealed at the end of the previous episode. It will be released on Monday, July 20, 2020.

The preview of episode 16 was not shown at the end of the previous episode, nor was its title revealed. We may get to see more of Yuki’s confidence brought on with the help of Tohru’s kind nature, and growing complexities as Kyo’s feelings for Tohru become stronger.

3. Recap of Previous Episode 15

I. Parent-Teacher Conference Begins

Episode 15, titled “See You Later,” begins with Yuki apologizing to their teacher Mayu-san about the inconvenience caused by his mother for changing his conference date.

After that, Mayu-san becomes busy taking the PT meetings for other students, starting from Uo, who decides she wants to work right away after graduation because she is worried about her dad’s income.

Upon being asked what job she wants to pursue, Uo is reminded of Tohru telling her she would make a fantastic model; she answers model to her dad’s surprise.

Next, Hana decides she would make efforts to graduate first and gains full support from her mom.

II. Shigure-san came to meet Mayu-chan.

At Tohru’s parent-teacher conference, Shigure-san tags along as promised. He and Mayu-san greet each other with the brightest faces but radiating icy winds into the atmosphere in contrast.

Tohru reveals she plans to work right away after graduation, not wanting to burden herself on the Soma family.

But her teacher tells her she can think more about her future course rather than trying to bear it all by herself and Shigure jokes that Tohru can just become his wife, to which Mayu-san jabs that he must be single because he talks of marriage proposal casually, at which he snaps back that she must be wasting her marriageable years away because of idealizing such things—radiating the cold winds in the atmosphere again.

After sending Tohru away, Mayu tells Shigure to take better care of Tohru, to which he replies he already is, and they continue their banter for a while.

III.What is on Kyo’s mind…?

Tohru meets up with her friends- Uo-chan and Hana-chan, and after discussing each of their meetings with the teachers, Uo warns Tohru to be careful of that writer (Shigure-san), but Tohru dense/kind as ever says he is not a wrong person.

They watch Kyo and his father heading for his PT conference. To everyone’s surprise, Hana develops a crush on Shihan (Kyo’s dad).

Kyo reveals he isn’t sure about his future after their meeting ends, and his dad supports him by saying he can take as much time he wants to think about it, he wants to hear the answer from Kyo whenever. But the only thing on Kyo’s mind is Tohru.

IV. An unexpected guest at Yuki’s conference

On the day of Yuki’s PT conference, his mom shows up as he waits for her in the heavy rain.

Soon she meets with Mayu-san and discusses Yuki’s future how she has decided everything for him from pursuing higher education to which college he will be going.

Yuki, surprised by this, asks his mother not to decide for him yet, but she overlooks his opinion as always and starts to degrade him.

Yuki is reminded of his past of how his mother never wanted to listen to him and ignored his opinions. As his mother keeps on talking, the uneasiness grows within Yuki, but at that moment, Ayame opens the door and walks in with grandeur, and a bouquet of roses in his hands surprising everyone.

He sits down beside Yuki as his mom flinches back and begins discussing Yuki’s future, shutting down his mother’s despising words towards him.

Yuki, who is pleased to see him, announces he gains strength from his brother when their mother calls him useless. Not being able to stand this newly grown brotherly love, their mother leaves.

Keeping Tohru’s words in mind to try his best, Yuki chases after his mom and talks to her. Meanwhile, Ayame reports this back to Hatori, Mayu-san congratulates him on gaining Yuki’s support.

Yuki stops his mother and tells her about his ambitions and efforts to make for his future and choices, which he’ll be proud of, so not to decide what his life should be and end it. Not being able to refute his words she leaves.

Tohru overhears this conversation, but before Yuki can tell her anything, he is hurriedly taken to the student council room for sorting the havoc that Ayame created there.

Fruits Basket, abbreviated to Furuba or Fruba, is a Japanese shōjo manga series written and illustrated by Natsuki Takaya. It was serialized in the semi-monthly Japanese magazine Hana to Yume, published by Hakusensha, from 1998 to 2006.

The series’ title comes from the name of a popular game played in Japanese elementary schools, alluded to in the series.

It tells the story of Tohru Honda, an orphan girl who, after meeting Yuki, Kyo, and Shigure Soma, learns that twelve members of the Soma family are possessed by the animals of the Chinese zodiac and are cursed to turn into their animal forms when they are weak, stressed, or when they are embraced by anyone of the opposite sex that is not possessed by a zodiacal spirit.

As the series progresses, Tohru learns of the hardships and pain faced by the afflicted Somas, and through her own generous and loving nature, helps heal their emotional wounds.
