Ren talked to Shigure about Akira and their daughter Akito. Akito remembered the time when her father, Akira died.
Akito gave the box to Ren. Akito then took the knife to kill Ren, but Hiro’s bond broke and she stopped. But later, she stabbed Kureno in the back with the knife and then left the room crying and blaming Kureno.
In Shigure’s house, Tohru asked Kyo to wait as she had something to tell him.

1. Episode 8 Preview & Speculation
Shigure just outright rejecting Ren in the cruelest way imaginable was a work of art. He clearly did it to turn her against Akito, maybe to hasten the breaking of bonds.
I’m so happy for Hiro. Though he can no longer hug Kisa, but at least now he can finally hug his mom. I wonder if Hiro is going to share with the others what happened. Momiji didn’t, but I feel like Hiro would at least tell Kisa.
Kyo passing out in Tohru’s room at the end of episode 6 seems like just a dream as he just woke up in his room as if nothing happened.
2. Episode 8 Release Date
Episode 8 of the Fruit Basket (2021) anime, titled “I’m Disappointed in You”, has been released on Tuesday, May 25, 2021.
Since this anime runs on a weekly schedule, new episode releases are seven days apart.

3. Episode 7 Recap
Kyo dreams about his mother and Tohru’s mother and thinks about the time he spent with Tohru’s mother. He dreams about her mom dying in front of him and sees Tohru’s dead body. And then he wakes up. He hears some sounds coming from the kitchen.
Yuki, Momiji, and Tohru cook grilled meat in the kitchen and make meatballs of different shapes. Kyo wonders if he needs to know his place, as both Tohru’s mother and Tohru were in his dream.
In the Sohma estate, Ren and Shigure talk about Isuzu. Ren tells the story of when Akira was alone. She was confused about her love for Akira. She was just a maid, so others ordered her to move from the estate.
But Akira stood by her and said they loved each other. But that did not last long, when Akito was born, they started having conflicts as Ren wanted to raise Akito as a boy.
Akito takes pity on her mom. Ren says that whatever Shigure feels for Akito is not love but just a fantasy. But Shigure refuses. Ren starts to cry after hearing this.
Akito remembers when her father, Akira died. Akito was sitting in front of Akira’s body when the maid addressed Akito as the new Family head. Ren cried and said that she is not a member of the family. But Akito said that Akira told her that everyone needs her and that Ren is the only one that is not needed.
Kureno enters the room. Akito says that she wished that the bond will never break. But everyone is leaving her behind. Ren comes with a knife in her hand and says that everything that belongs to Akira belongs to her, and wants the box that Akito is holding.
Akito gives the box to Ren, who opens it but finds it empty. Akito takes the knife to kill Ren, but a bond breaks, and she stops. It is then revealed that it was Hiro’s bond to break.
Akito comes outside in the rain and Kureno follows her. Akito says that she believed that the box contains something, but there was nothing in it when she opened it. So, she kept the box hidden. Kureno comforts her by hugging her. He tells her that she can start fresh now.
If she stays in the estate, then she will be always worried about bonds. But Akito blames Kureno for this, because when Kureno was free from the curse, he should have left her. She stabs Kureno in the back with the knife. Akito then leaves, crying and blaming Kureno.
In Shigure’s house, Kyo finishes his dinner that Tohru made. He takes an umbrella and is about to go outside when Tohru asks him to wait. She says that she has something to tell him.
