Sein has to make a hard decision in episode 17 of ‘Sousou no Frieren’ titled “Take Care.” Due to the weather, the party gets to spend more days together. However, in the end, Sein chooses to leave and chase after his own goal.
As the party travels further, Fern gets sick. Frieren and Stark do their best to help her. We see another tradition Himmel has passed down to Freiren.

1. Episode 18 Release Date

2. Episode 18 Speculation
The party has almost reached Auburst. However, they have one less person in the party since Sein decided to go after Gorilla. The party will probably reach Auburst soon. However, they cannot travel any further as adventurers require an S-class mage to travel north.
Frieren will have to take S-Class Mage examinations to earn a certificate. The certificate will be proof of her abilities, which will allow her party to travel wherever they want. With the beginning of the exam, they are set to meet new faces, both friends and foes alike.
3. Recap of Episode 17
Now that Sein knows Gorilla’s location, he finally has a lead to reach his friend. However, it is opposite to where the party was headed. The party decides to stay the night at the village, so Sein has time to decide.
Sein fondly looks over the party while he makes dinner. A blizzard rages the next day, so the party cannot travel anywhere. However, their condition is far better than before since they are in a village.
Frieren plans on winning over a legendary-level magic. After the blizzard almost passes, Sein realizes the party spent most of their time apart. Frieren calls Sein to mediate between Stark and Fern’s fight, which surprises him. She simply states it is a priest’s job when he questions her.
Stark questions Stark and Fern separately and realizes that they both feel sorry. Sein prompts them to apologize to each other and explain their side of the story as well. Fern and Stark make up, and Frieren and Sein discuss their journey together.
Sein decides to go after Gorilla and leaves after giving well wishes to the party. The party is now just Fern, Frieren, and Stark. While they take shelter under the mountains, Fern catches fever.
Frieren identifies the sickness using magic, and the party decides to get out of the cold. The party finds shelter in an old lady’s house, and Frieren holds Fern’s hands throughout. Fern gets embarrassed about being treated like a child, and Frieren lets her go.
Frieren and Stark go out to find herbs for Fern’s sickness. Stark questions why Frieren was holding onto Fern, and she reveals that she intended to relieve Fern’s pain. She was not treating Fern like a child, but that was the only way she knew how to help.
Stark tells her to do whatever she wants to provide emotional support. Frieren is reminded of Himmel who used to hold her hand whenever she was sick. Frieren makes Fern the medicine while Stark helps the old lady.
Frieren goes back to holding Fern’s hand until she gets better. The party resumes their journey to Auberst, the city of magic.

Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End is a manga by Yamada and Tsukasa Abe. It was launched in April 2020, and went on to win several prizes.
The story starts when a group of heroes come back home after defeating a demon. Frieren, an elf mage, has hundreds of years ahead of her due to her long lifespan.
She is destined to lose all her friends and comrades eventually. However, at the funeral of one of her past comrades, she realizes that she has a new adventure ahead of her.
