Microsoft’s Forza franchise was changed for the better when Horizon launched back in 2012. Playground Games, along with the expertise from Turn 10 Studios, took the tried and tested formulae of Forza Motorsport and tuned it loose into the open world.
That was just the beginning as Forza Horizon toured the streets of Colorado, France, Australia, and into the United Kingdom for the last release. Forza Horizon 4 is still going strong with new content and challenges being pumped into the game regularly, but it’s time for a new king to sit on the throne with Forza Horizon 5.
With a new title, it is given that we would be experiencing a whole new world, and this time around, we are coming back to North America (though a little South than you expected).
Forza Horizon 5 will take place in Mexico. The new Mexico map will be the largest in the series yet with vast scenic routes to explore.
1. Why Mexico of All Places?
“Mexico really stands out because it’s one of those countries that almost feels like it’s the whole world in one country.”
Mike Brown, Creative Director, Playground Games
Mike explains that Mexico has everything in one place, from snowy mountains, epic canyons to historic cities and gorgeous coastlines.
It is pretty exciting to see that the developers have picked out the perfect setting to challenge players both visually and in terms of varying terrains.
2. The Studio Remains Tight-Lipped on the Car List
In each iteration of Forza Horizon, we see and experience the location’s local car culture. From Australian cars to well-known British supercars and antiques. So far, though, we just have had a brief glimpse of the cars in Forza Horizon 5.
“We’re not really discussing the full details of the car list just yet, and so I’m going to have to be a little nonspecific, But I would say that Mexico does have a really, really quite interesting car culture. As soon as you speak to any Mexicans they relax when they start to tell you, in much the same way that Aussies did in Horizon 3.”

3. Forza Horizon 5 Release Date and Pricing
Forza Horizon 5 will release on November 9, 2021, as confirmed during E3 2021 showcase, and will be priced at £54.99 / $59.99 for the standard edition.
The new Forza Horizon 5 will be releasing on Xbox Series X/S and PC with crossplay out of the box. If you own a game pass, it’s more good news for you as the game will be available on the game pass.
4. About Forza Horizon 5
Forza Horizon 5 is the latest installment in the Forza series of racing simulator games. It is the fifth Forza Horizon title and the twelfth main installment in the Forza series. The game has been developed by Playground Games and published by Microsoft for the Xbox consoles and PC.
Forza Horizon 5 is set in a fictional representation of Mexico. Players will race through various kinds of biomes in the game, and will have access to a number of professional racing cars. Several game modes allow players to play online against others, and “The Eliminator” battle royale mode has also made a return from Forza Horizon 4.
