Forza Horizon 5, the highly-anticipated new title in the Forza racing series, was finally revealed at Xbox and Bethesda’s Games Showcase at E3 2021. The game is set to arrive on November 9th, 2021, and will be set in Mexico, as speculated earlier by industry insiders.
Developed by Playground Games, the title will feature Forza’s most extensive open-world map to date, which will include all kinds of terrain, from fearsome volcanoes to beautiful sandy beaches. At the center of it all will be the colorful city of Guanajuato – filled with twisting alleys, streets, and underground tunnels that will give racing that extra thrill.
The game will feature a new Expedition mode that will push players to explore Playground’s iteration of Mexico, new mini-games, and a new suite of custom creation tools called the Events Lab.
Devs have described Events Lab as an
“incredible new toolset that allows you to create your own races, game modes, and gameplay experiences”

where players can “customize everything, right down to the fundamental rules of the game.” Additionally, modes like The Eliminator, the racing battle royale introduced in Forza Horizon 4 in late 2019, will come pre-loaded on Forza Horizon 5.
As for the multiplayer mode, players will be allowed to set up an arcade-type racing game with their friends on the fly. An example shown in the showcase linked above is a piñata race, where players have to destroy colorful objectives dropped in their path.
The title will also arrive on Xbox Game Pass on launch, as many had correctly predicted. This trend was set by Forza Horizon 4 and has become a staple ever since.
“Forza Horizon 5 is the largest, most fun, and most beautiful open world we’ve ever built,” said creative director Mike Brown. “And it will truly be an astounding showcase for the Xbox Series consoles when it comes to Xbox Game Pass this November 9th.”
