Forza Horizon 5 was undoubtedly one of the most anticipated Microsoft exclusives of 2021. While the game has a laundry list of issues, it hasn’t deterred fans from buying and spending hours upon hours in the racing sim.
The release was so good that Playground Games states that Forza Horizon 5 has achieved the biggest launch week in Xbox history. The current number of total players has been recorded over 10 million. This information comes to us from the Forza Horizon 5 Twitter account. The tweet stated that more than 10 million players had played the game since its November 9th launch.
The tweet also shared that Forza Horizon 5 achieved the “biggest launch in Xbox history.” The first week of play resulted in the biggest first week ever for both Xbox and Xbox Game Pass.
Signs of the game’s success were present before the game’s launch. The Premium Edition’s early access saw over 800,000 active players daily before the official launch. Just a day after launch, Xbox Head Phil Spencer revealed that Forza Horizon 5 earned the “largest launch day for [an] Xbox Studios Game.” The game had a peak concurrent player count thrice that of Forza Horizon 4.
The game has been a success with fans, but some issues have made the experience less than ideal. Some players have not been able to use their legal names due to censorship; Microsoft has said they are “aware and working on a fix” for this problem.
The studio has also shared plans to release a hotfix that will address the issues with crashing and stability. One bug has caused the game to crash if Discord screen sharing has been enabled, but we are not sure if this is the bug that is going to be fixed.
We expect the fervor for Forza Horizon 5 to keep going for a while now, and the fixes Playground Games releases will only make an already widely loved game even better.
