Forza Horizon 5 launched in November of last year and was one of the biggest Xbox launches in the company’s history. The hype since November has died down considerably, as the live service elements were found to be lacking.
However, fans knew that Playground Games would have something more to share soon, and those expectations may be quickly met as a recent leak has hinted at Forza Horizon 5’s first DLC expansion.
The leak comes from Aggiornamenti Lumia, a Twitter user who covers Microsoft and Xbox-related topics. They say they have found a surprising new release in the Xbox Insider Hub, the platform Microsoft uses for issuing content for pre-launch testing.
A reference named “WOODSTOCK_DLC_FLIGHT” was discovered on this platform. At first, the name may seem cryptic, but it references Forza Horizon 5’s first expansion.
“DLC_FLIGHT” is easily understood, as it is commonly known Microsoft refers to its testing runs as “flights.” The word “WOODSTOCK” has no meaning at face value, but it has been widely reported that Woodstock is the codename used by Playground Games and Xbox to refer to Forza Horizon 5. So, the name very clearly states it is the test flight for Forza Horizon 5’s DLC.
We don’t have any information beyond this related to Forza Horizon 5‘s upcoming DLC. Playground has yet to share official details about release windows for the planned expansions. The content of the DLC is also a mystery, as Playground Games have really flexed their creativity in previous Forza games’ DLCs.
We know that Forza Horizon 5 will receive two major expansions officially. The game was released with an Expansions Bundle that includes two DLCs for $34.99, promising that each would add a new location, vehicles, and “gameplay.”
For now, all Forza Horizon 5 fans can do is sit and wait for more information from Playground Games. The leak would indicate that the game’s first expansion is in a playable state and is in testing, which could mean that its arrival is not too far off. We can expect the announcement of the new DLC to be made during an Xbox event of some sort.
