I. Asahi’s Flavor
In the competition between Soma and Asahi, Mana begins the current episode by describing Soma’s dish as a powerful storm that makes you taste his unique flavor and lets you know that it was his.
On the other hand, Asahi’s dish was a blend of the world’s most renowned chefs’ techniques but lacked his personal flavor.
Mana described this as Asahi continuing to steal the knives of others. The scoreboard then displays a score of 3-0, revealing that Soma had won the competition.
We see a flashback of Joichiro and Asahi, where he talks to Asahi about how he first met his wife, Soma’s mother.

As Asahi walks out of the stadium, he crosses paths with Soma’s father.

II. The Generation Of Prodigies Plan
Azami and Mana have a small argument, and it leads to a flashback of how they first met until the point where Mana learned that their daughter Erina had the same “God Tongue” ability as her.
She then leaves Erina with her father, Azami, and ends up becoming the Bookmaster of the World Gourmet Organization.
As the Erina vs. Soma match begins, Soe Nakiri and Senzaemon Nakiri have a conversation about what is known as “The Generation Of Prodigies” plan.
Senzaemon describes the plan as a means to gather the “perfect rocks” who are young chef prodigies that will help refine Erina’s skills so that she will not fall into the despair that comes along with possessing the God Tongue.
A flashback is revealed showing the “Generation Of Prodigies” plan in action as Totsuki Academy goes around the world contacting the families of talented young chefs such as the Aldini brothers, Megumi, Ikumi, Soma, and the others that form Erina’s group of friends and classmates today.
Episode 12 ends with Yukihira tasting Erina’s dish at the beginning of the competition.
Soma tells her that her food tastes boring and that he will not be happy winning against Erina if she is not cooking at her best and continues to have that grim look on her face.
