Overwatch 2 has just launched and like every other game, it has errors that are preventing players from playing the game smoothly. One such error reported by several players is “Time out communicating with Battle.net service”.
While an official patch hasn’t been released yet, there are a few fixes you can try to prevent the error from occurring in the game. Follow the steps below to resolve the issue:
1. Restart Battle.net client
There is no definitive fix as of now due to the high amount of players playing, causing the servers to crash since they can’t handle the traffic. But that doesn’t mean there aren’t any fixes. One of these fixes is simply restarting the battle.net client.
Restarting an application is sometimes the best way to fix errors. Close the client, and quit the application from the system tray of the taskbar at the bottom right. Relaunch the client again and the game should be working.
If closing and restarting the client doesn’t fix the issue, proceed onto the next step.
2. Run Battle.net as Administrator
Sometimes, simply running the application as administrator does wonders. Right-click on the Battle.net client and select “Run as Administrator”. A dialog box will appear, asking you if you want to run the application as administrator. Select ” Yes” to run it as administrator.
If running as administrator doesn’t solve the issue, proceed onto the next step.
3. Use a VPN
Many times, the internet connection can’t communicate with the servers due to routing issues. So, if unplugging the internet connection doesn’t work, use a VPN to connect to the servers more effectively. There are various free VPN applications available for you to use.
If connecting to a VPN doesn’t solve the issue, then proceed onto the next step.
4. Contact Blizzard Support
If the above methods haven’t worked, then contacting the support team for Blizzard is the next best option in order to let them know. The team can request your log files so that they can go through and analyse them and identify the issue to permanently solve it.
If contacting Blizzard support doesn’t result in any fix, then proceed onto the last step.
5. Restart internet connection
This fix requires you to restart your internet. Unplug your internet connection and wait for 30 seconds. Plug it back and start the Battle.net client. Usually encountering this error means that the servers are offline, or the user’s internet failed to connect with the server.
These are all the possible methods for fixing the “Time out communicating with Battle.net service” issue. If none of the fixes listed above work then I suggest waiting for an official patch to roll out.
6. About Overwatch 2
Overwatch 2 is an upcoming first-person shooter developed and published by Blizzard Entertainment. The sequel to the 2016 hero shooter Overwatch, the game is intended to have a shared environment for player-versus-player (PvP) modes with the first game while introducing persistent cooperative modes. A major change in PvP was to reduce team sizes from six to five, which required several characters to be reworked.
