At the 2024 Game of the Year Awards, The Witcher 4 was officially teased with a stunning new trailer, sparking excitement among fans. The trailer revealed Ciri, the adoptive daughter of Geralt of Rivia as the new protagonist, and hinted at a vast, evolving world set in the Witcher universe.
While specific details remain scarce, the game promises to expand on the rich narrative, intricate lore, and immersive open-world gameplay the series is known for. CD Projekt Red, the developers, are set to push the boundaries of storytelling and action in this highly anticipated sequel, building on the legacy of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.
1. When will The Witcher 4 come out?
The Witcher 4 does not currently have a release date. The latest reveal trailer only gives players a glimpse at what to expect from the story and gameplay. Therefore, the game may not come out for the next year or many more.
The existence of the game was first revealed by CD Projekt Red via a press release in March 2022. Later in the same year, CEO Adam Kicinski mentioned that the game is “at least three years away”. So, the game may come out in 2025 but currently, that does not seem possible.

3. The Witcher 4 Storyline
The trailer does not reveal much of the storyline of The Witcher 4, however, we get to see a grown-up Ciri in action fighting against a giant horrifying arachnid monster, while trying to save the life of an innocent village girl doomed to death by his family and acquaintances.
Sebastian Kalemba, the game director while talking about the game story stated “We’re kicking off a brand new Witcher saga, this time with Ciri as the heart of the story”. For the longest time, we knew that we wanted Ciri to be the protagonist of The Witcher 4; it just felt natural to us and we believe that Ciri deserves it. In this game, we want to explore what it means to truly become a witcher by following Ciri on her Path.”
Therefore, even if we don’t know many details about the game, one thing that can be confirmed is that Geralt will be taking off in this title from all the drama and action after leading in the past three titles.
Additionally, the gameplay and combat of the game feel very similar to that of The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt. So, you will get to enjoy more Ciri-related gameplay in this title compared to the previous one without major changes to your preferred gameplay style.
