First Look: Miles Morales Hops into Different Spiderverses in Sequel

A first look at the Miles Morales animated sequel has been released. So if you find Post Malone’s Sunflower rising on the charts again, it’s because we’re preparing to dive back into (or across) the Spiderverse again!

Miles is back home, chilling when Gwen Stacy suddenly and quite literally DROPS on him through a portal. He is understandably taken back by her visit after the events of the last movie—and, also because he’s not in his “adult” dorm room. The underwear floating around is the least of the embarrassing items in your childhood room, Miles.

SPIDER-MAN: ACROSS THE SPIDER-VERSE – First Look

The next bit takes Spidey Miles through a series of portals that transports him into a colorful, chaotic metropolis. As per the logline, Across the Spiderverse will have Miles dragged into entering other universes. Here he is apprehended by another Spidey, who is none other than Spider-Man 2099! Oscar Isaac will reprise his voice role from the little cameo he did in the end credits of the previous movie.

During their swinging around, Miles also enters a city that seems to be set in India, with words in Hindi displayed in the background. So, it is possible we will see yet another version of Spidey in Pavitr Prabhakar.

Along with the multiple new threats and a growing team of Spider-people, the movie is also set to focus on Miles and Gwen’s romance, evidenced by Gwen picking up Miles’ ‘childhood’ sketchbook and finding herself in it.

While this relationship was hinted at in the first movie, it was ultimately cut out. Which, in my humble opinion, was a good call because the dynamics would seem very contrived in Into the Spiderverse.

Sadly, for fans who want to see Miles Morales ASAP, there’s a bit of a wait—Spider-Verse producers Phil Lord and Chris Miller have confirmed he will not be appearing in Spider-Man: No Way Home.

But hey, we can’t complain too much: we’re getting Across the Spiderverse Part One on October 7, 2022, and Part Two in 2023!

Plus, word is that we may also get an all-female Spiderverse sometime during or after the Miles Morales storyline. Fingers crossed!
