Fire Force is a Japanese shōnen manga series written and illustrated by Atsushi Ōkubo. Both the manga and anime of the Fire Force have managed to capture the hearts of fans.
Shinra and his ability of ignition along with the mighty 8th Company have become ‘fan-favorites.’
Season two of the Fire Force anime started rebroadcasting on July 3 after a break caused by the pandemic.
The series returned with its 3rd episode on July 17, and its 4th episode is set to broadcast on July 24.
Funimation released an exclusive interview with Fire Force Producer Kensuke Tateishi talking about the show’s origin, music, season 2, and much more.
When asked if the producers had any concept in mind before making the anime, Kensuke Tateishi responded
“In a nutshell, we were going for a cutting-edge film. After speaking with Ohkubo-sensei, our idea was to create an innovative anime production to some extent, while preserving the Weekly Shonen Magazine feel that it had.”
The producer was also asked about a strong focus on sound in the Fire Force anime, to which he replied
“We contacted Kenichiro Suehiro to do the background music, and he said he definitely would like to work on the anime version of Fire Force. Very often, production companies make these decisions based on recommendations from the directors and the record companies, but when it came to choosing Mr. Suehiro, we’re the ones who made the request of David Production.
For my part, it was the first time I had ever been that assertive, so I wasn’t sure how it would go over, but I took it on blind faith that Mr. Suehiro would be a perfect match for this production (laughs).
As it turns out, he produced some fantastic background music. Additionally, we assembled an outstanding staff, including our sound director and affects people, and I think the distinctive sound that came out of that turned out very well. “
When asked about his favorite scene in the anime, Kensuke Tateishi explained how the scene featuring Captain Hibana from Company 5, producing her flame ‘Sakura’ having meticulously animated petals was his favorite scene.
The complete interview can be found on Funimation’s website.
With the second season in full swing, fans can’t wait to have the anime answer the many questions it raised.
