A major part of Wuthering Waves gameplay involves upgrading the weapons and gears players have collected over their journey to strengthen themselves and fight against stronger high-level enemies.
Players require various upgrading resources to level up their gears. Howler Core is one such resource used to upgrade items. As it comes in different rarities (LF, MF, HF, and FF), you may find it difficult to acquire a certain type of Howler Core, especially the rarer ones.
How to get the Howler Core in Wuthering Waves?
Howler Core can be acquired through the following methods in Wuthering Waves:
- By collecting it as a drop after defeating Certain Enemies in different rarities.
- By “trading up” through the Synthesizer in Jinzhou city. If you need a specific rarity of Howler Core.
- By purchasing it from various shops in the game or the Store Page in the Item Exchange area.
Howler Cores are rather easier to farm, so it is suggested to spend some time in the game hunting the Howler enemies, and not spend the various in-game currencies to get the item.
Collecting Howler Core After Defeating Certain Enemies
The following enemies drop Howler Core after players have defeated them:
- Chirpuff
- Cruiswing
- Cyan-Feathered Heron
- Diamondclaw
- Excarat
- Fusion Dreadmane
- Geohide Saurian
- Gulpuff
- Havoc Dreadmane
- Hoartoise
- Hoochief Cyclone
- Hoochief Menace
- Hooscamp Clapperclaw
- Hooscamp Flinger
- Roseshroom
- Sabyr Boar
- Spearback
- Violet-Feathered Heron
- Young Geohide Saurian
- Young Roseshroom
These basic enemies can be found all over the game’s world including, Desorock Highland, Central Plains, Dim Forests, Gorges of Spirits, and Wuming Bay. However, only a handful of them can be found in cities and towns.
Defeating them is easy and does not require any special skill apart from regular attack moves. Do not forget to collect the Howler Core, once you have defeated the enemy.
Remember that the core comes in different rarities, so it is difficult to farm a higher rarity of the Howler Core by this method.
Trading Up the Howler Cores by Using Synthesizer
The synthesizer is located at the Academy in Jinzhou City, next to Uncle Wei’s shop. It is a machine that can be used to craft resourceful items and gear after adding the required raw materials.
The Synthesizer cannot craft the Howler core from any raw material. However, it can improve the rarity of a Howler Core by one level using three inferior cores of preceding rarity.
Here is a table of Howler Core’s rarity conversion for your better understanding.
Core Rarity | Exchange Type and Quantity |
MF Howler Core | 3x LF (Lowest Rarity) Howler Core |
HF Howler Core | 3x MF Howler Core |
FF (Highest Rarity) Howler Core | 3x HF Howler Core |
How to use the Synthesizer in Wuthering Waves to upgrade the Howler Core?
To synthesize a higher rarity of Howler Core:
- Find the Synthesizer at the academy, next to Uncle Wei’s shop in Jinzhou city.
- Interact with the Synthesizer to open up a menu.
- Go to the ‘Purification’ tab, the third one on the top left of the menu.
- Select the desired rarity of the Howler Core from the menu. Remember, you require at least 3 Howler Cores of the preceding rarity.
- Click on Synthesize on the bottom right of the Synthesizer menu.
How to purchase the Howler Core in Wuthering Waves?
Howler Cores can be purchased from multiple shops in Wuthering Waves including Uncle Wei’s Shop, where you can find lower rarities of this item. LF Howler Core can be purchased for 1500 Shell Credits while MF Howler Core can be bought for 3500 Shell Credits.
Howler Cores can also be purchased from the Store Page in the Item Exchange area using a rare currency called Oscillated Coral.
However, as this currency is difficult to accumulate it is recommended not to waste it on Howler Cores and just farm them from regular enemies.
