We’re all aware of how vast AC Valhalla is. It’s full of places to explore, items to collect, and enemies to kill. Along with these, the game’s filled to the brim with many easter eggs for you to find.
Finding an easter egg is like receiving a gift on Christmas – once you stumble upon it and realize what it is, you cannot help but smile at the game dev’s thoughtfulness, and AC Valhalla is no different.
Whether it’s a callback to the past AC games, paying homage to other great games, TV shows, or movies, or talking about the ongoing pandemic, AC Valhalla has got it all.
Of course, finding them can get a little tricky, as these easter eggs are spread far and wide across all of AC Valhalla’s world – and that’s why I’m here to help you out.
So, without any further ado, let’s find every easter egg present in AC Valhalla, shall we?
1. Is this The Shire? Hobbiton in AC Valhalla
In AC Valhalla, there’s a town called Glowcester in the Glowecesterscire region. If you decide to head west of this town and across the river, you’ll find what looks to be a one-to-one copy of the Hobbiton from The Lord of the Rings.
That’s not all, though. You can also find a locked house around here that opens up with a key (You can pick that up at the back of the house).
Once inside, you’ll find a note referencing The Adventurous Hobbit himself, Bilbo Baggins. You can also find a ring that closely resembles The Ring of Power from LOTR – truly the cherry on top.
The Lord of the Rings is one of the most acclaimed fantasy adventure epics of all time, and seeing the town of The Shire (Or the Hobbiton, as it is known as real life) while playing through this game can fill any fan of the series with a lot of nostalgia. A pleasant surprise, for sure.
2. There’s COVID in AC Valhalla too?
Once you get access to Layla’s laptop during the modern-day segments of the game, you’ll come across emails from her brother Ramy, with Layla telling her that she didn’t catch COVID yet – referencing the ongoing global pandemic.
Considering how AC Valhalla came out way before we all entered the age of COVID, it’s nice on the developer’s part to put something like this in their games, even stating how Layla was isolated and taking proper precaution.
3. The Prodigy is in AC Valhalla!
Man – fans of The Prodigy, one of the most successful EDM bands of all time, must’ve been filled with joy after seeing this one.
Northwest from central Essexe in AC Valhalla, you can find a lookalike of Keith Flint singing away to a crowd with his band against a Bishop’s wishes. The song makes minor references to “Smack my bishop!” – by The Prodigy, and upon interacting with Keith, you get a world event by the band’s name.
It’s a great tribute to one of the EDM world’s late legends, Keith Flint – a great sendoff for the man.
4. The Bonfire from Dark Souls
In East of Ledcestre, you might stumble upon an old and ruined building that pays homage to one of the greatest games of all time – Dark Souls. As a reference to the franchise’s iconic checkpoints, you can find a bonfire with a sword sticking out of it in the building.
Here’s the best part, though – you can sit by the Bonfire and actually restore all of your health, similar to how The Chosen Undead used the Bonfires in Dark Souls.
It’s pretty cool when a video game acknowledges and respects another video game within its world through such easter eggs – epic much, not going to lie.
5. Not the Cuccos! The Legend of Zelda reference.
You guys remember how, when Link hit a Cucco one too many times in Ocarina of Time, a whole army of them would appear and beat you up until you die? Well, I do, and AC Valhalla references this too.
When exploring the massive fortress of Dunwic, you might hear cries of help coming from a prison cell – go there, and you’ll find a bloody spot surrounded by Chickens. However, they will swarm upon you, attack you, and will not calm down whatsoever if you attack them, referencing the Cuccos from The Legend of Zelda.
6. GOT – is it Tyrion Lannister’s prison cell in Dunwic?
In the same room as those blasted chickens, you’ll encounter certain similarities to Tyrion Lannister’s prison from during his stay at House Arryn before realizing that the prison cell is indeed a replica of the room.
There are two notes in here too – one references Tyrion’s own words, and the other references H.P. Lovecraft’s The Dunwich Horror – pretty cool, right?
7. The Green Children of Folklore in AC Valhalla
At the stone altar of Cedd’s Stone in East Anglia, Eivor would come across a note that talks about two green children that steal stuff away from the town nearby.
Following the green footsteps near the altar, you’ll reach the central cairn in the stone circle, finding the green children. These kids are a reference to the Green Children from English Folktales, who spoke a strange language and ate only beans.
It’s a pretty interesting story once you get into it, and it’s amazing how the devs managed to remember the tale and reference it in the game.
8. Harry Potter’s Fantastic Beasts series
In Ravensthorpe, you’ll be tasked with collecting the pages of a book in a side quest. Once you find them all, you’ll find that the book is titled “Fantastic Fishes and Where to Find Them,” referencing Harry Potter’s spin-off series, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.
A plain, simple, and funny easter egg – what more do you need?
9. A list of Horcruxes in AC Valhalla
Southeast of St Paul’s Cathedral in Lunden, you’ll find a building guarded by snakes. Once you kill the snakes, you’ll find that the door needs a key (You can pick the key from the building’s balcony).
Get inside, and you’ll find a note that references Voldemort’s Horcruxes from Harry Potter. It’s nice how they even added a seventh “???” in the list, hinting about the big reveal at the end of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – pretty cool.
10. Robin Hood in AC Valhalla
Just north of Repton in the Snotinghamscire region, you’ll come across a scene of ambush with a hooded man wielding a bow investigating it, claiming how his party was wiped out, and the rich will send his guards for him.
Once the reinforcements arrive, defeat them and talk to the guy again – you’ll slowly come to realize that you’re basically talking to Robin Hood, a legendary heroic outlaw.
11. Desmond Miles
In the modern-day sequences, you can use Layla’s laptop to find a couple of audio files that feature the voice of the series’ original protagonist – Desmond Miles.
12. About Assassin’s Creed Valhalla
