Currently, Ubisoft is working on two major projects from the Assassin’s Creed franchise– the confirmed Assassin’s Creed Infinity and the “reported” Assassin’s Creed Rift, which focuses on Basim.
A credible source has revealed new details for the upcoming Assassin’s Creed Rift.
According to reports, the official name for Assassin’s Creed Rift will be Assassin’s Creed Mirage as Rift is a codename. The game will be released in Spring next year. It is set between the years of 860 and 870 AD in Baghdad, during the Anarchy of Samarra.
The game explores the character arc of Basim. He starts off young as a thief being drafted into the Hidden Ones, with multiple cities to explore. The gameplay is described as a “return to basics,” barring several RPG elements of older Assassin’s Creed games, such as dialogue and level systems.
Eagle vision makes a comeback along with another bird which Basim will utilize as a mechanic called the String Dagger.
AC Mirage will also explore how Loki takes over Basim’s body and subconscious through quests known as “Visions of Loki.” There will also be other DLC for Mirage, including one where Basim meets Sigurd in Constantinople.
Reportedly, Ubisoft is using Mirage’s assets for the remake of Assassin’s Creed 1 which comes with Mirage’s Season Pass.
These are all reported claims, of course. Ubisoft has not confirmed any rumors regarding Assassin’s Creed Mirage. We can expect further details, such as an approximate release window or even a teaser video, in the coming months.
