Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth’s co-director, Motomu Toriyama, has revealed on the Taipei Game Show 2024 that the Costa del Sol region will have a new storyline that is a bit more lighthearted and will hopefully be a breath of fresh air after the more intense story mode.

Since Final Fantasy 7 was initially released in 1997, even gamers who have not played the title know the plot points. As a result, this inclusion has made a lot of heads turn.

To keep the plot fresh and lively, they have added a new twist to the Storyline incurred at the Costa de Sol. Canonically, Costa De Sol is a coastal resort town with a sunny climate all year round.

Now, it has been revealed that in the Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth’s gameplay, the developers have deviated from the original storyline and have given the players a relaxed environment with bit more light-hearted moments at Costa del Sol.

Another interesting revelation was that player choices will affect affinity and combat. This effect extends to cutscenes and wholly depends on the affinity between the party members.

This affinity will have great importance in combat when players access team attacks. The fan-favorite summoning feature of Final Fantasy 7 will also be getting a reboot, allowing them to upgrade their materials to make them stronger.

To make the game even more light-hearted and fun, there are a bunch of mini games, including Chocobo races, where players can earn gear for the birds.

These changes and inclusions make Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth more exciting and give the title a breath of fresh air. This is something that the previous Final Fantasy titles lacked and, as a result, caused some fatigue that Square Enix is trying to do away with.
