Square Enix revealed the fifth expansion of Final Fantasy 14 titled Dawntrail last year. Producer Naoki Yoshida also confirmed that the game would be launched for Xbox Series X/S. Players can expect Final Fantasy 14 on Xbox anytime before February ends.
Square Enix announced that Final Fantasy 14 will be launched on Xbox Series X/S as an open beta. It will begin on 21st February at 3 am EST. The beta will be exclusively available for new players and existing players will not be allowed to participate.
The free trial of Final Fantasy 14, which includes the Stormblood DLC, will serve as the basis of the open beta. Xbox players can play along with PC, PS4 and PS5 users since Final Fantasy 14 has dedicated servers.
Square Enix recently confirmed that Final Fantasy 14 would end support for 32-bit Windows and DirectX 9. The update arriving in March would officially cease support for these clients. So, if you have an outdated system, unless you can switch over to 64-bit Windows and DirectX 11, it looks like the end of the road for you.
However, if you want to play Final Fantasy 14 on Xbox, you need to purchase the game and subscribe to both Final Fantasy 14 and Xbox Game Pass (Core or Ultimate). This came as a surprise since PlayStation players are not required to own an additional PlayStation Plus subscription.
As expected, Xbox users are rightly disappointed at the high cost of wanting to play Final Fantasy 14. Hopefully, Square Enix or Microsoft might offer some perks or make some changes to improve the overall experience. Square Enix has confirmed that Final Fantasy 14 will be released immediately after open beta ends.
