The coronavirus pandemic is continuing its rage upon tv and movie productions and its latest victim is Netflix’s popular show, Bridgerton. The first season of the show debuted on the streaming platform in December and became a smash hit. Fans have been waiting for a second season ever since but a cast member suggests that production for season two might take a hit because of the lockdown.
Bridgerton is a period drama that is set in the Regency Era. The show’s main focus is the Bridgerton family, especially the seven Bridgerton siblings. The first season delved into the love story of Daphne Bridgerton (Phoebe Dynevor), the eldest Bridgerton daughter, with Simon Basset, the Duke of Hastings (Regé-Jean Page).
The finale of the first season teased that season two will revolve around Viscount Anthony Bridgerton (Jonathan Bailey) and his quest to find a wife.
Although Netflix has not officially renewed Bridgerton yet, filming for the second season of the show was supposed to begin in March regardless of the renewal. However, Dynevor has voiced her concern in an interview, stating that the shooting might be delayed-
“I can’t imagine how it would be possible to film under these circumstances. There are so many extras and so many crew members, and it’s a very intimate show. It just baffles me how we would film it under Covid rules unless there was a vaccine beforehand.”

Britain has been affected by a virulent strain of the coronavirus, which compelled the government to impose a strict lockdown once again. Although shootings are allowed to take place if the COVID rules are followed, many believe it is a considerable risk.
It looks like fans might have to wait some time longer for Bridgerton to return.
