Square Enix has revealed some information about why only certain characters can see Whispers in Final Fantasy 7 Remake. Whispers are a type of enemies in the game, and it’s one of the new things that the development team added in the game.
The Remake did deviate somewhat from the original game but also respected the source material while adding a bunch of new aspects and characters to the game like Whispers. Square Enix most likely is revealing this information to the fans due to the fact that Rebirth, the game’s sequel, is releasing this year.
The Japanese Twitter account of FF7 Remake revealed that the only reason Cloud Strife can see Whispers is because he came into contact with Aerith, who could originally see them. This applies to others like Barret and Shinra as both saw Whispers when they came in contact with Cloud.
The tweet is in Japanese but was translated using Google Translate. It’s interesting that the developers are revealing more information about the new things added in the Remake, especially the mysterious Whispers.
It was important to reveal how big of a role the Whispers had in the game, since many fans are also curious if any of the character’s interactions with the Whispers in Remake will affect the story of Rebirth in any way.
Even though they weren’t in the original game, adding Whispers to the Remake adds a new layer to the iconic PlayStation IP and makes the experience fresh for new and old players alike.
