When Unlimited Blade Works came out, things were highly overrated. Like most people, I too was expecting a grand follow-up to Fate Zero, but we were gravely mistaken.
It was a big step down from Fate Zero when it came to entertainment. Initially, the anime was somewhat enjoyable, but later it became a drag.
The fights were sudden and mostly meaningless. The anime failed to create the necessary build-up for an engaging plot. The outcomes of fights were either predictable or completely irrational, and the story looked deliberately slow-paced.
Nonetheless, nothing stopped the franchise from releasing two television anime seasons with an OVA in a Blu-ray set in 2015-2016. Now, they are looking to refresh their DVD series.
Aniplex USA announced on Wednesday that it would release a complete Blu-ray set for the Fate/Stay Night: Unlimited Blade Works television anime on July 14.
The set will include all 26 episodes, comprising both season 1 and 2, along with “sunny day” OVA. The package will also contain bonus content such as some illustrations by original character designer Takashi Takeuchi and a mini-booklet.
The anime only tries to be a shonen, so if you are into shonen, this is not for you since the progress in this anime is almost non-existent.
Even the characters are engaged continuously in pointless chatter, which doesn’t lead to anything, well except for a completely pointless fight scene. The few good visual fight scenes are just random clashes and provide no build-up.
About Fate series
Fate/stay night is a Japanese visual novel developed by Type-Moon, which was originally released as an adult game for Windows.
The story revolves around Shirou Emiya, an honest and hardworking teen who is forced to enter The Fifth Holy Grail War.
In this deathmatch tournament, participants fight with magical abilities, as the winner gets a chance to have their desires come to life. Following a near-death experience, he meets Saber, an artificial personification of the legend Arturia Pendragon, designed to help the participants.
