The movie was rescheduled due to the COVID-19 pandemic and finally released on August 15.

The movie has performed well at the Japanese box office, making it the fastest Fate anime film to get to 1 billion yen (US$9.4 million), beating the Fate/Stay Night: Heaven’s Feel II. Lost Butterfly, by one day.

Ten years after the Holy Grail War, a battle waged by Masters and Servants over the wish-granting container, the Holy Grail, another war breaks out in Fuyuki City.

Shirou Emiya, the adopted son of Kiritsugu Emiya, a participant of the previous Holy Grail War, resolves to fight, carrying out Kiritsugu’s dying wish.

Shirou attempts to protect Sakura, a girl from the Matoi family who has been by his side for over a year. But once the Holy Grail War starts, there’s a change in the air of Fuyuki City.

Murders abound across the city, and the atmosphere grows ominous. The battle starts to go awry as secret manoeuvres by unseen forces are put into play.

Our favourite moment in the film was when the blood washes away, and serenity unfolds.

More than any battle, this moment will stick with us when we think of Heaven’s Feel. That peace, that loss, that catharsis. And the PV clearly does justice to that.

Tomonori Sudō is the director of the movie, and Ufotable animated the work. Yuki Kajiura composed the music.

The story of this movie continues immediately from the events of Fate/Stay Night: Heaven’s Feel II. Lost Butterfly, and is the final instalment in the Fate/Stay Night: Heaven’s Feel trilogy.

The film was initially scheduled to premiere in Japan on March 28, 2020. It was postponed to April 25, 2020, and then finally to August 15, 2020, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Aniplex of America initially planned to present a preview screening of the film in the United States on April 17, 2020, at the Orpheum Theater in Los Angeles, and begin more comprehensive theatrical screenings across the United States starting on May 7, 2020.

However, due to concerns over the pandemic, the U.S. premiere was canceled, and all North American theatrical screenings were postponed.

And now, after the August 15 release, the movie is a big success as predicted by many.
