1. Episode 9 Preview & Speculation

I guess Goro’s backstory explains his attitude. He doesn’t want to talk tactics because he was rejected by the first team he coached.

Warabis isn’t a good women’s soccer team, so obviously, they couldn’t attract good coaches.

The coach they got didn’t want to coach, so why not try a sporting legend and alumni to do something with the girls, which Naoko has done decently. A win at last!

The ending reveals that the girls of Urawa Hosei High School are participating in the Saitama Preliminaries as well, and they will play against the Warabis. I can’t wait for the next episode.

The following day is a face-off between Warabis Seinan and Kotesashi Seirin. The score is 4-4. Nozomi doesn’t inform about her foot injury to Naoko and Goro so that they wouldn’t make her rest.

Midori, Sumire, and Shiratori tell Nozomi to get off the field, but she refuses. Goro calls Nozomi and tells her that he knows that her foot is injured, but she denies it.

Goro then tells her to prove herself. In the end, Warabis Seinan wins the match with a score of 5-4.

Later, Naoko and Goro talk in the faculty office. Naoko confronts Goro that he knew about Nozomi’s foot injury. But Goro ignores her and says that it’s time to go to the riverbed for soccer practice.

Outside Warabi Seinan High School, a man wearing black sunglasses notices Nozomi, Midori, Sawa, and Sumire, and follows them. The girls notice him and plan to capture him. Goro notices the girls just when they catch him.

Goro recognizes the man as Kazuo Takahagi, who addresses Goro as ‘darling.’ At the practice field, Kazuo coaches the girls. Kazuo later introduces himself to Naoko as Goro’s junior.

It is then revealed that he is a former football player and an indispensable left-winger of Japan’s national team in Japan, Spain, and Portugal.

Later, Goro and Kazuo watch the girls play. Goro reveals that the third-years have left the team again. Kazuo replies that it is his fault and says that the girls are a treasure to Goro.

He further asks him to stay away from them if he isn’t going to coach them. Goro calls himself a pest and walks away.

While walking home with the girls, Kazuo reveals that he first met Goro at the U-23 training camp. He injured his leg during the training, so he quit soccer and became a coach.

Unfortunately, the JFL team he coached didn’t like his coaching and fell apart. Later, he lost his passion for soccer because of this. However, Nozomi disagrees with this. After this, Kazuo and the Warabis part their ways.
