Fans Questions Outcome of a Norse Kratos vs. Young Kratos Duel

God Of War 2018 is over three years old now and is still highly discussed in gaming circles. Given that we are expecting God Of War: Ragnarok next year, the hype has been steadily building amongst the fanbase. People especially liked the character growth shown by our protagonist Kratos, as he has become a more mature, withdrawn man compared to the time he spent in Greece.

But fans have been wondering if Norse Kratos had to go up against his older self, who would come out on top?

Kratos has become much more calm and reserved, having a better handle on his rage, the reason for his undoing in the previous games. His fighting style has also seen a marked change, where we now see Kratos much less agile but seemingly even more powerful.

A discussion on Reddit has emerged to answer that very question. The thread, started by user Gauri_aya11, created a black and white art piece of the two distinctive versions of Kratos going to battle with one another and asking people if they would like to see such a fight.

The ask generated quite a bit of banter, with over three hundred comments on the God Of War subreddit. Users are debating which version of Kratos would win, with some stating that the controlled strength and experience of 2018 God Of War Kratos while others are siding with the raging and agile young Kratos from the original trilogy.

Old Kratos looks stronger with her powerlifter-esque build, but young Kratos is no slouch given that he has ended almost the entirety of the Greek pantheon before moving to Scandinavia. While rage and a fighting spirit would fuel young Kratos, it may also act as a detriment by clouding his decisions. Old Kratos is far more strategic, and his added experience may give him the upper hand over his younger self.

The idea of Kratos fighting his inner demons in the form of his younger self is fascinating and would serve as an excellent symbolic battle to show that he has finally moved on from his past. He could learn to handle his rage with better effectiveness, making him an even stronger warrior overall. Fans will have to wait until next year’s God Of War: Ragnarok to see where Kratos’ story will lead.
