On April 6, reports about Warner Bros. and DC discussing Ezra Miller’s misconduct started doing rounds on social media. According to the reports, the companies will hit a pause on Miller’s future projects, including the upcoming The Flash movie.
Since the reports were released, fans rallied against Miller, demanding they get replaced by Grant Gustin. Gustin has been playing Arrowverse’s The Flash, aka Barry Allen, for the past eight seasons of The CW show.
Gustin’s name trended on Twitter soon after, as fans stated their opinions that the current time was “the best time” to put Gustin on board.
DC’s The Flash was originally scheduled to release later this year, but the pushback in all movies led to the movie’s release being postponed to June 2023. Fans believe the company should re-film scenes with Gustin with a year on their hands.
The shocking WB and DC report came after Miller made multiple headlines for allegedly abusing in a bar, and stealing from a couple in Hawaii.
The couple filed a restraining order against Miller for allegedly threatening to kill them and stealing from them. The actor was staying with the couple in Hilo.
Before the restraining order against them, Miller was also arrested at a bar for harassment. He reportedly hurled abuses at bar workers and “lunged at a 32-year-old man playing darts.”
The issues have already tarnished the image of the upcoming DC movie, The Flash. Though DC isn’t likely to move at the whims of the fans, even if they were to refilm it, it would require a bigger budget and more time.
Moreover, Gustin’s portrayal of Barry Allen in the series has received a positive response from a majority of the audience over the years.
The Flash Season 8 is going strong, and with Season 9 already confirmed, the craze for Gustin’s Barry doesn’t seem to come down any time soon.
