Thor: Love and Thunder made a great buzz when Christian Bale’s Gorr arrived on screen. The actor’s live-action Gorr looked vicious yet charming, much like the character from the comics. But the supervillain still had some original details missing.
One Marvel fan artist has edited Gorr into his comic-accurate portrayal—the much exciting head tails stemming from the back of his head.
The fan art was brought into the spotlight by Twitter user @AnotherMarvelG on May 24. The tweet currently sits at 2.1k likes and 223 quote-retweets.
Significant differences between Gorr the God Butcher from the comics and Thor 4 are his nose and the menacing head tails.
The edit was made from shots from the trailer. The reimagination made Bale’s Gorr look similar to the character’s comic rendition.
The Twitterati even added a poll in the following tweet, asking the audience which version they preferred. The head tails version ended up losing to the movie version, though.
Gorr has a pretty traumatic back story. After losing his parents, wife, and children, the once-ordinary alien who believed in gods became a god-slayer or butcher.
The fight between Gorr and Thor will be exciting to watch, especially because the trailer hasn’t shown the supervillain’s capabilities yet. A grim silver sword does make an appearance, but it’s still not confirmed if it is the All-Black Necrosword.
Meanwhile, the 48-year-old Bale’s casting as Gorr the God Butcher excited everyone, even Thor 4’s director, Taika Waititi.
The director called Bale “very formidable” and in one interview with Associated Press also stated an impressive compliment for the Academy-winning actor, saying,
“In my humble opinion, we have probably the best villain that Marvel’s ever had in Christian Bale.”
Meanwhile, the much-awaited Thor: Love and Thunder will finally release in theaters worldwide on July 8, 2022.
About Thor: Love and Thunder
Thor: Love and Thunder is a MCU movie and the fourth installation in the Thor series. It is directed by Ragnarok’s director, Taika Waititi, and will show Chris Hemsworth and Natalie Portman reprising their roles as Thor Odinson and Dr. Jane Foster.
The movie will be based on The Mighty Thor comics in which Thor Odinson loses the ability to lift Mjolnir, and Jane Foster takes on the role of Mighty Thor. After the events of Avengers: Endgame, Thor teams up with The Guardians of the Galaxy for a short time, leaving Valkyrie as the ruler of New Asgard. But Thor returns to team up with Korg, Valkyrie and Jane’s Mighty Thor to take down Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale) – before he takes out all the gods in existence.
Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson return for Watiti’s second go, while Russell Crowe and Natalie Portaman join Taika’s project for the first time. The movie is out on July 8, 2022.
