A new The Falcon and the Winter Soldier image teases a fiery Baron Zemo, who Daniel Brühl describes as “evolved” in the Disney+ show.
Empire has recently shared a fiery look of the antagonist, which illustrates Zemo masked up with a shipping container behind him and a big fire in front. While talking to the outlet, Brühl said,
“It’s not just the mask, it’s the costume. It does something with him as a whole. He’s evolved. He’s a different man now.”

While Baron Zemo has only one appearance in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, he left a big impression. After his part in Captain America: Civil War saw him orchestrate the Avengers breaking up, Zemo’s survival left fans wishing he’d pop up again. Many are eager to watch Zemo return and put on the character’s purple mask from the comics.
There is also a great conspiracy in the fandom over the essence of his role, as the villain seems to be working with Sam and Bucky at some points in the trailers.
The recent image of Zemo is similar to the shots of him in the trailers at a shipping yard. There have been assumptions circulating about why Zemo eventually decides to put on The Falcon and the Winter Soldier‘s mask.
There have been theories that he’s borrowed the purple mask look from Thanos, but it would be fascinating if the show correlates the mask to Zemo’s past somehow. There’s also the chance that his transformed persona is a way for Marvel Studios to propel Zemo towards the Thunderbolts.
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier has roughly six hours of content at its disposal. The series theoretically has ample time to explore Zemo. Though he only had about 10 minutes of screentime in Captain America: Civil War, this brief amount of time enabled a decent amount of Zemo’s MCU backstory to be explored. Hopefully, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier utilizes Zemo’s character as an even more powerful villain.
