Fafner in the Azure made an excellent name for itself within the mecha genre through an unusual animation style and a story unlike others in the category.
The anime carries the theme of war and its brutality so well that it’ll blow your mind at how realistic things can get, even with giant robots and aliens.
The franchise’s latest film series, Soukyuu no Fafner: The Beyond, has already released nine episodes, with three at a time. The series’ grand finale is closer than you think, and it is going to be legendary.
Soukyuu no Fafner: The Beyond film series released a new PV for their final episodes 10, 11, and 12 premiering on November 5, 2021.
The trailer starts with the defeat of Benon’s army by Soushi and Kazuki in episode 9 and flashes from previous wars while moving on to show a relatively peaceful time.
Unfortunately, the peace is short-lived as the trailer starts showing another fearful enemy waiting for our heroes with an army. After that, a couple of confrontations and fights are teased between the protagonists and antagonists from the upcoming episodes.
Episode 9 did end positively, but several complicated issues regarding the Tatsumiyajima island were still present.
The next episode is titled ‘Storm, Come and Go,’ indicating how unsteady and sensitive things will be after Benon’s surprise attack. Although there weren’t any heavy casualties, the war still traumatized people, and the episode might touch on the controversial topic.
Moreover, episodes 11 and 12, titled ‘The Two Heroes’ and ‘Beyond the Azure’ respectively, will be the most critical considering how they will be the finale and what can happen.
Fafner in the Azure is an unpredictable anime, and there is no way we can know what’s going to happen.
The trailer alone has me thrilled beyond imagination, and I cannot wait for the episodes to release.
About Soukyuu no Fafner
Fafner in the Azure is a Japanese mecha anime franchise created by Xebec in collaboration with Starchild Records.
The story focuses on Tatsumiyajima, the central island in a sleepy backwater of the Japanese isles. Not much happens there, and the island’s young people go to school knowing that their lives are likely to remain peaceful and undisturbed.
Or so they have been taught… but the truth is different. The fate of mankind is on the line, and Tatsumiyajima is the last line of defense against a hostile and incomprehensible enemy.
